Examining your content items

A fundamental requirement for personalizing displayed information for your website's visitors is having actual, published content items available for display.

During the initial Acquia Lift configuration process, the service uses rules that are custom-developed for your website to identify published content items. Acquia Lift can then use these content items to display articles, videos, and other content that reflects specific website visitors' interests.

Configuring your site's available content

Before you create any personalization campaigns for your website, you must add the websites from which you want to obtain content to Acquia Lift Web.

To review your current settings for which websites the Acquia Lift service uses for content, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to Acquia Lift Web, and then click the Admin tab.
  2. Click the Manage configuration data link.
  3. Click URLs to Generate Content link.

If the Manage URLs that generate content webpage does not have any website entries, there is no content available for the Acquia Lift service to display. To add the websites from which you want to obtain content, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Manage URLs that generate content webpage, click the Add new URL link.
  2. In the Url field, enter a regular expression that describes the website from which you want to obtain content. For example, to obtain content from an entire website, enter a URL similar to the following:

If you want to obtain content from a specific section of a website, you can use the following example for your entry in this field:

  3. Click Save.

If you need to add additional websites from which to obtain content, repeat the previous procedure.

After you add one or more websites, you can edit their regular expressions by clicking the regular expression that you want to modify.

Removing sites

If you want to stop obtaining content from a website, complete the following steps to remove the website from Acquia Lift Web:

  1. Sign in to Acquia Lift Web.
  2. Click the Admin tab.
  3. Click the Manage configuration data link.
  4. Click URLs to Generate Content link.
  5. Find the website whose content you want to remove from Acquia Lift Web, and then click its Delete link.
  6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the website from the URLs to Generate Content table.

Reviewing your site's available content

Before you create any personalization campaigns for your website, but after you have added one or more websites from which to obtain content, be sure to review the list of content items that the Acquia Lift service can use with your campaigns. To do this, sign in to the Acquia Lift Web admin interface and then click the Content tab.

You can use the following fields to filter the results that Acquia Lift Web displays on this page:

  • Find content - Enter an integer to display content items with a matching ID value. The filter scans ID values from left to right and returns all results that meet the criteria. For example, entering 28 returns content items with IDs that include 28, 281-289, and 2800-2899.
  • Title - Enter a string to display content items whose titles begin with the value that you enter.
  • Url - Enter a string to display content items whose URLs begin with the value that you enter.
  • Customer site - Select the customer site that contains the content items that you want to display.
  • Status - Select from Active, Inactive, and All to limit the number of displayed content items.

Resolving missing content

If the content that you are looking for is not displayed in the Acquia Lift Web admin interface, verify that the content is published and available on your website. If the content is published but not displayed on the Content page, contact Acquia Support to review your configuration script to ensure that all of the appropriate content pages on your website are made available for use with your campaigns.

Examining a content item's values

To review the values associated with a content item (including additional information that includes when the content item should no longer be displayed and its associated keywords), click a content item in the table of displayed content items on the Content page.

Depending on how your subscription is configured to capture content from your websites, Acquia Lift populates the following values for each content item in the Content details section:

  • ID - Internal identification number
  • Status - Indicates whether the content is able to be used by a campaign (Active) or will not be displayed to website visitors (Inactive)
  • Title - Content item title
  • Url - Location of the content item
  • Publish date - Date that the content item was published on the website
  • Expiry date - Date that the content item should no longer be displayed
  • Content type - Type of content (for example, article or video)
  • Section - Descriptive general category of the content item
  • Keywords - Descriptive terms associated with the content item
  • Author - Content item's author name
  • Thumb url - Location of the thumbnail image for the content item
  • Customer site - Name of the content item's hosting website

Content usage statistics

The Insight section follows the Content details section, and displays information about the content item's usage in campaigns, which includes the following values:

  • Views - Number of times the content item was displayed to website visitors
  • Shares - Number of times website visitors shared the content item through social media
  • Comments - Number of times website visitors commented on the content item
  • Engagement score - Content item's popularity score, assigned by Acquia Lift Web
