A category provides a way to group applications, which would tend to have consistent size and hosting requirements. Application categorization based on common attributes sets a particular application apart from others.

*   Almost all authenticated traffic
    
*   Harder to cache by CDN or Varnish
    

Evergreen

*   Applications or brands that are not going anywhere
    
*   Ongoing feature enhancements (Managed by the central team)
    
*   Mostly anonymous users
    

B2B

*   More static in nature
    
*   Core Centrally Managed; Site specific features decentralized
    
*   Some sites may require login or email registration.
    

Intranet

*   Gated from public access / unavailable to public internet
    
*   Core centrally managed and site-specific features decentralized
    
*   Almost all authenticated traffic
    
*   Harder to cache by CDN or Varnish
    
*   Made for internal audience
    

Event site

*   High bursts of traffic
    
*   Authenticated and anonymous traffic
    
*   Authenticated during peak events
