Important

In [Cloud Next](/acquia-cloud-platform#cloud-next-benefits) environments, changing your environment settings triggers an atomic update, similar to a code deployment. This provisions new capacity for your environment and retires the old capacity once the new capacity is in place. This ensures that the new settings do not cause problems for your Cloud Platform infrastructure before traffic is routed to the updated containers.

To configure an environment:

1.  From the [Overview page of an environment](/acquia-cloud-platform/manage-apps/environments), click **Actions** and select **Configure Environment**. Alternatively, click **Configuration** in the left navigation pane.

2.  Perform the following, as appropriate:
    *   Select the runtime [PHP version](/acquia-cloud-platform/manage-apps/php#cloud-php-version-used) for the environment.
    *   [Modify the advanced PHP settings](/acquia-cloud-platform/manage-apps/php).
        *   For environments running on [Cloud Next](/acquia-cloud-platform), configure your [Memcached memory limit](/acquia-cloud-platform/performance/memcached).
    *   Enable [New Relic APM](/acquia-cloud-platform/monitor-apps/apm) and configure your New Relic settings.
    *   (_Cloud Next only_) Enable [Cloud Actions](/acquia-cloud-platform/manage-apps/cloud-actions) and configure your settings.
    *   (_Cloud Next only_) Enable [mod\_proxy](/acquia-cloud-platform/manage-apps/mod-proxy).
    *   (_Cloud Next only_) Update or revert your [OS version](/acquia-cloud-platform/configuring-os-versions "Configuring OS versions").
