Table of contents will be added

When Acquia-related developer content starts piling up around the Web, it's time for an Acquia Dev Scan.

In this edition: Taming Expanding Databases in Drupal 8, Reservoir on DrupalEasy, and a Conference for Decoupled Drupal Developers

Dealing with expanding cache\_render tables in Drupal 8
-------------------------------------------------------

There are a number of scenarios in Drupal 8 where you might notice your MySQL database size starts growing incredibly fast, even if you're not adding any content.

**Jeff Geerling**, Senior Technical Architect, Acquia, figured out that most of the time the problem stems from a exponentially-increasing-in-size cache\_render table. After talking about this problem with a number of colleagues, he decided to write a blog post to cover common scenarios, as well as short and long-term fixes if you run into this issue. Hence: [Dealing with Drupal 8 and a giant cache\_render table](https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2017/dealing-drupal-8-and-giant-cacherender-table).

The DrupalEasy podcast focuses on _Reservoir_
---------------------------------------------

Ebullient _DrupalEasy_ podcast host **Mike Anello** spent almost the entirety of a recent show talking with Acquian **Ted Bowman** about [Reservoir](https://dev.acquia.com/blog/introducing-reservoir-a-distribution-for-decoupling-drupal/19/06/2017/18296), the new Drupal 8 distribution from Acquia's Office of the CTO that's focused on decoupling.

Listen to it [here](https://www.drupaleasy.com/podcast/2017/07/drupaleasy-podcast-195-reservoir).

Decoupled Drupal Days
---------------------

Speaking of decoupling, **Preston So**, one of the contributors to Reservoir, is also part of the team organizing [Decoupled Drupal Days](https://decoupleddevdays.com), a small developer-focused conference for architects, developers, and businesspeople involved in implementing decoupled Drupal architectures.

*   Location: New York City
*   Dates: August 1920, 2017

It's early yet, but you can keep track of this evolving confab by checking out the conference's [Twitter feed](https://twitter.com/decoupleddays). Recent tweets, for example, have revealed that Drupal luminaries [Sebastian Siemssen](https://twitter.com/thefubhy), [Daniel Wehner](https://twitter.com/da_wehner), and [Sally Young](https://twitter.com/justafish) are all speaking.

Sound interesting? A [ticket](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/decoupled-developer-days-tickets-35731933174) is a towering $25.

See you next time.
