It's a good time to press your advantage as a Drupal developer.

Drupal 8 has launched, and it's much easier now for Drupal developers to expose content and features on their sites via an API. The capability is built right into Drupal 8 Core. Some contrib modules are attempting to make such capabilities even better.

That means that if you are a Drupal developer, you've got a head start when you're working with Web services, which have become critical part of today's applications and websites.

But first: you have to make sure you understand how to take advantage of these new capabilities.

Following [Larry "Crell" Garfield](https://www.drupal.org/u/crell), who led the Drupal 8 Web services Initiative, is a good start. That's why [Acquia](http://acquia.com) has partnered with [Palantir.net](http://www.palantir.net), the Chicago-based Web strategy, development, and design firm, on a multi-part series to cover what you can do with Web services in Drupal 8. Palantir.net is a dream content partner for Acquia on this topic, because Larry Garfield is Palantir.net's Senior Architect and Community Lead.

This series started off, right here in the Acquia Developer Center, with a post from Larry: [Web Services 101](https://dev.acquia.com/blog/apis-in-drupal-8/web-services-101/26/01/2016/9516). Then Larry advanced the project with a second post: [D8FTW: REST-aware Routing](https://www.palantir.net/blog/d8ftw-rest-aware-routing). In that installment, Larry continued his comprehensive explanation of exactly what Web services are, providing a necessary and strong foundation for you to approach the exciting Web services developments new to Drupal 8.

Now you can check out Larry's latest, over on the [Palantir.net blog](https://www.palantir.net/blog). The title of this post #3 is [D8FTW: REST in Core](https://www.palantir.net/blog/d8ftw-rest-core). ([Kyle Browning](https://www.drupal.org/u/kylebrowning) from Acquia will writing part #4 in the Acquia Developer Center.)

BTW, if you like to learn via your ears, Larry and Kyle recently gave a webinar on a related topic: [Drupal 8 Deep Dive: What It Means for Developers Now that REST Is in Core](https://www.acquia.com/resources/webinars/drupal-8-deep-dive-what-it-means-developers-now-rest-core#animated).
