Asset IDs are a string of letters and numbers attached to a specific asset within your Acquia DAM. It will never change even if the filename is edited, so links and embed codes for the asset will never break.

You can find the asset ID in several places. In Asset Digest, the asset ID displays in the URL after /asset/. In the example below, the asset ID is qi1mvmdhxp.

You can also find the asset ID by selecting **Share** in Asset Digest and looking in the share link, the embed code, or embed link.

If you’re viewing an embed link for a DAM asset, you’ll see the asset ID within the URL after /content/.

Note that the asset ID does not appear in the URL, share link, or embed code on the Asset Details page.

Searching with an asset ID
--------------------------

In the [redesigned search experience](/acquia-dam/what-redesigned-asset-search-experience "What is the redesigned asset search experience?"), you can search an asset ID within the search bar without a shortcode.

![searching asset id](https://acquia.widen.net/content/7493b610-7fa8-4d3d-af84-03492656a1a2/web/ka0Pb0000006ykf00N6g00000WDN1a0EMPb00000368ly.png)

In classic search, add the shortcode “eid:” to the asset ID, so it looks like this:

eid:qi1mvmdhxp
