[Brand Portals](/acquia-dam/how-do-i-create-brand-portals "How do I create Brand Portals?") offer a unique feature called dynamic galleries, in which the included assets are based on live search results from the Assets app. The benefit of these galleries is that they update automatically when a DAM asset that fits the filter criteria is added or removed.

To add a dynamic gallery, add an assets section to your portal, then choose **Asset gallery** and **Dynamic** and choose filters for the gallery. Choose from asset group, category, custom filter, filename, metadata fields, and tags. A maximum of 10 filters can be added to the gallery.

Once you add a filter, the results will update with assets that match your filter selection. Your dynamic gallery might change over time as assets are added or removed from the DAM.

Custom filters
--------------

Custom filters allow you to enter search terms to find assets. Enter a maximum of 10 terms of up to 255 characters each into the search.

You can build and combine complex searches by using [advanced search shortcuts](How-do-I-search-for-assets). If you want to build a custom filter that includes a metadata field, there are a few ways to do it. To ensure that your dynamic gallery never breaks, build the filter using the metadata field’s display key, which never changes. Read this article to learn [how to expose the display key via the API](/acquia-dam/how-do-i-search-assets-api "How do I search for assets via the API?"), or connect with someone from your IT team for help.

The other way to build your filter is using the full field name. Note that this can change if the display name for the field is edited. To find the full field name, click your User Account menu (the account details icon) in the top navigation bar and select Search help.

Under the Quick search key section, look for the field you need and copy the text you see in the Field name column. For example, if you were building a search string with a region field, you’d copy “Region” and not “reg.”

Don’t use shortcuts because they can change based on the permission of the user or when a new field is created.

Permissions
------------

Which assets a portal viewer sees in the dynamic gallery depends on permissions. If the portal has limited permissions or a login is required, the user will see the assets they have permission to in the DAM.

However, if a portal does not require a login, assets display based on the permissions of the portal creator.
