Administrators can use the Global New Search Experience toggle to unify the Acquia DAM interface across their organization for a consistent user experience and simplified internal training efforts.

While users previously managed their own transitions between legacy and modern search views, which sometimes resulted in inconsistent team workflows, this centralized control enables a simultaneous migration to the New Search and Asset Digest environments. This global setting serves as a strategic transition point as the platform moves toward decommissioning its legacy codebase.

Locating the toggle
-------------------

You must have administrative privileges to access and manage global features.

1. Log in to Acquia DAM.
2. Navigate to Admin > Global Settings > Features.
3. Select the Manage Users tab.

4. Locate the Global Search New Experience toggle.

Understanding toggle behavior and states

This section provides information about how this toggle affects the user interface and individual preference settings.

#### Default state (OFF)

For new customers and existing instances, the toggle defaults to OFF.

* Experience: The standard configuration applies: Asset Digest is ON, New Search is OFF.
* User Control: Users can manually toggle between experiences through their individual preferences.

#### Global override (ON)

When an administrator enables the toggle, the new experience is enforced organization-wide.

* Experience: All users are immediately transitioned to both New Search and Asset Digest.
* User control: To ensure organizational alignment, the User Preferences page is hidden or disabled for all non-admin users. They cannot revert to the legacy view.

#### Reverting the toggle (State Wiping)

If an administrator turns the toggle ON and then OFF, the system does a reset to ensure stability.

* Experience: All users are reverted to the system default state, such as Asset Digest ON and New Search OFF.
* User control: The system does not restore individual user preferences to what they were before the toggle was enabled.

Note

This toggle is designed as a transitional utility. When Legacy Search and Asset Details are fully retired from Acquia DAM, this toggle will be removed from the Admin UI, and the New Search experience will become the permanent, standard interface for all users.
