Acquia DAM (Widen) supports displaying the interface in multiple languages. You can switch the display language of the DAM user interface to French (European), German, Dutch, Spanish, or Portuguese (European). This feature translates the static text of the interface, such as navigation labels, buttons, and system messages, into your selected language.

Note

This feature translates the DAM interface text only. It does not translate user-generated content such as asset metadata, filenames, or dashboard messages. To manage assets in multiple languages, see [Use DAM for multi-language assets](/acquia-dam/use-dam-multi-language-assets "Use DAM for Multi-Language Assets").

Supported areas
---------------

Multi-language UI support is available in the following areas of Acquia DAM (Widen):

*   Login pages
*   New Search Experience
*   Asset Digest
*   Portals share pages
*   Insights

Areas not yet supported
-----------------------

The following areas do not support multi-language UI in this release:

*   Dashboard

Support for these areas is planned for a future release.

How it works
------------

Acquia DAM (Widen) determines the display language in two ways:

### Automatic browser detection

By default, Acquia DAM (Widen) reads your browser's preferred language setting. If your browser language matches one of the five supported languages, the interface displays in that language automatically. No additional configuration is required.

### Manual language toggle

You can also select a language manually by using the language selection dropdown. To change the display language:

1. Navigate to the login page or any supported area of Acquia DAM (Widen).
2. Locate the language selection dropdown.
3. Select your preferred language from the list.

The interface updates to display static text in the selected language.
