Table of contents will be added

Using asset insights, you can quickly see data about an individual asset, including how much the asset is being used, how it's being used, where it’s being viewed, and who is engaging with it outside of your site. Asset insights helps you and your colleagues in marketing or content creation answer important questions about your assets and helps you understand your content better.

If you have permission to view asset insights, you can find it on the Asset Digest page. Click **Insights** in the Digest navigation bar.

![insights button in the top navigation bar](https://acquia.widen.net/content/400a1b39-63e9-40ff-a8be-6d40437e5dd8/web/ka0Pb0000000WzB00N6g00000WDN1a0EM6g000005LvgT.png)

Once the insights modal is opened, you can toggle data by selecting one of the boxes labeled **Downloads**, **Views**, and **Shares**.

![views, shares, downloads counts in the insights modal](https://acquia.widen.net/content/e6305d43-7b5c-4a02-a3a8-9b7f37c98447/web/ka0Pb0000000WzB00N6g00000WDN1a0EM6g000005LvgU.png)

Then, you can choose a date range, view data by breakdown or grouped datasets, and [export chart details](/acquia-dam/how-do-i-export-asset-insights "How do I export in asset insights?").

![graph of downloads for the asset](https://acquia.widen.net/content/858d36b8-fa87-4756-a49a-f7d606f81900/web/ka0Pb0000000WzB00N6g00000WDN1a0EM6g000005LvgV.png)

If the asset you’re viewing is a video, you’ll see an additional tab called Video insights. It shows the following metrics.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Completion

Number of times the video was played and completed.

Share loads

Number of times a video accessed by a share link was loaded.

Embed loads

Number of times a video accessed by an embed code or embed link was loaded.

Portal loads

Number of times a video in a portal was loaded.

Average retention

Average length of time users spent watching the video.

Share plays

Number of times a video accessed by a share link was played.

Embed plays

Number of times a video accessed by an embed code or embed link was played.

Portal plays

Number of times a video in a portal was played.

Unlike in the legacy Quick Insights experience, video insights does not have data that tracks how many times the video was loaded or played in the DAM.

Currently, you don’t have charts, summary data, or filters for video insights, but they will be worked on and released in the future.

Date ranges
--------------

By default, charts show download data from the last 30 days. You can select from a number of different date range options. As you select new date ranges, the asset insights chart and tiles update to reflect data for the new date range.
