Use the following steps to add terms to a vocabulary:

1.  [Access your site](/node/69836#access-a-site).
    
2.  In the left sidebar, click **Structure** > **Taxonomy** > **Overview**.
3.  Locate the vocabulary to which you want to add terms.
4.  Click the dropdown corresponding to the vocabulary.
5.  Click **Add term**.
6.  In the **Name** field, enter a name for the term.
7.  In the **Description** field, enter a description for the term.
8.  Assign metadata to the term.
9.  For hierarchical vocabularies, expand the **Relations** section and select a parent term if applicable.
    
    Terms can have various relationships:
    
    *   Hierarchical: Parent-child relationships. Fox example, Europe contains France.
    *   Synonyms: Alternative names for the same term.
    *   Related terms: Cross-references between terms.
10.  Click **Save**.
