Patterns are pre-configured sets of components such as Hero areas and multi-column layouts. They can be used to speed up page building and create consistency across pages.

Creating a pattern
------------------

Use the following steps to create a pattern:

1. In the Drupal Canvas user interface, right-click a component on the page that you want to save as a pattern in the library.
2. Click **Create pattern**.

The pattern can be dragged and dropped onto the page. The content is added as a copy, which means that the changes to the instances where pattern is used are not reflected to other instances where the pattern is used.

Deleting a pattern
------------------

Use the following steps to delete a pattern from the library:

1. In the Library panel, click the ellipsis (...) icon next to the pattern that you want to delete.
2. Click **Delete pattern**.

    Note

Deleting a pattern from the library does not delete its instances.
