Use the following steps to associate a text format with a text field:

1. [Access your site](/node/69836#access-a-site).

2. In the left sidebar, click **Structure** > **Content types** > **Person**.
3. Click the **Manage fields** tab.
4. Click **Edit** besides a field to configure it to use a text format.

For example, click **Edit** besides the **Bio** field whose field type is Text (formatted, long).

5. In field settings, locate the Allowed text formats section and select the checkboxes for the formats that can be used with this field.
6. Click **Save**.

Users with permission to use multiple formats can see a format selector when editing this field.
