Campaign Factory provides instance templates to standardize resources across multiple accounts and instances. An instance template acts as a parent blueprint for creating child instances. These child instances inherit resources such as campaigns, segments, and emails from the parent instance template.

A child instance must be linked to an instance template to lock inherited resources and synchronize updates from the parent. For more information, visit [Instances](/campaign-studio/add-ons/campaign-factory/instances "Instances"). After linking the child instance, Campaign Factory locks all resources in the child instance and displays a lock icon. Locked resources can be cloned to create editable copies.

Child instances display only those resource modifications that are performed on the specific instance. Creation activity and modifications to the template remain at the parent instance template level. Additionally, after syncing the parent instance template resources with the child instance, Campaign Factory resets statistics for emails, landing pages, form submissions, and assets.

Note

* This option is available only for Campaign Factory customers.

* Templates are not counted towards your instance limit.

Important

To create and manage instance templates, you can use the API capabilities of Campaign Factory. For more information, visit Campaign Factory API Credentials.

    ![Creating templates](https://acquia.widen.net/content/hphx2ok1mx/jpeg/campaign-factory_creating-new-templates.jpeg?position=c&color=ffffffff&quality=80&u=kymscu)

    * **Name**: Enter a title for the instance template.

This title is displayed on the Instance Templates list and Instance Template Overview pages.

    * **Account**: Select the Campaign Factory account that you want to attach to the instance template.
    * **Location**: Select the location where you want to create the instance template.

Campaign Studio provides data centers in the US, EU, and APJ. Create an instance template in any location from the same Campaign Factory login. Instance templates can reside in one or more data centers. The option is not displayed to all subscribers. If the option is not displayed, [create a Support ticket](/service-offerings/support#contact-acquia-support).

    * **IP Pool**: Select the IP pool for the instance template that you want to use for sending emails.

Ensure that you assign exactly one IP pool to each instance template.

        * No dedicated IP: If only one option is displayed, select that option because it is the default IP pool assigned to the organization and shared with other Campaign Studio customers.
        * Dedicated IP: If Acquia has attached dedicated IP pools for configuration during account provisioning, select one or more IP pools for the account that you want to use for sending emails.
    * **Tags**: Add tags to the instance template.

Instance tags are similar to Account tags. They help Campaign Factory customers to search instances that meet certain criteria.

5. Click **Save**.

Campaign Factory creates the Campaign Studio instance template, opens a new browser tab for the instance template, and displays a notification with a **Take Me There** button. In addition, Campaign Factory adds the instance template the list on the Instance Templates list page.

6. To access the instance template and start creating resources, do one of the following:
    * Click the new browser tab or **Take Me There**.
    * Click the title of the instance template in the list, and then click **Edit Template** on the Template Overview page.

Important

If you create a child instance from an instance template that contains forms, you must [rebuild the cache for all forms](/campaign-studio/components/forms/create-a-form#batch-actions) in the child instance after creating the custom domain for the new child instance.
