With the Segments tab in Campaign Factory, you can manage unused segments across all Campaign Factory accounts and Campaign Studio instances, and unpublish them to improve performance.

Note

Published segments that are currently not in use can cause performance issues.

Only users with Admin role, Super user, or a custom role with edit instance permissions can unpublish segments.

Segments page
-------------

The Segments page displays all unused segments across all accounts and instances.

The Segments page does not display segments from the following list because Campaign Studio cannot unpublish a segment being used in one of these areas:

*   Campaigns

*   Emails

*   Segment

*   SMS

*   Notification

*   Form action

The system displays a red notification bar if an operation is unsuccessful or not possible. It includes details such as:

* The name of the segment

* The name of the instance that contains the segment

* A message indicating why the operation failed

**Column**

**Description**

**CHECK BOX**

To select one or multiple unused published segments for unpublishing.

**SEGMENT NAME**

Displays the unused segment.

**ACCOUNT**

Displays the account containing the unused segment.

**INSTANCE**

Displays the instance containing the unused segment.

**STATUS**

Indicates whether the unused segment is published or unpublished.

**USAGE**

Confirms that the segment is not in use.

**ACTIONS**

Opens a new window and redirects you to the Segment Details page of the associated Campaign Studio instance containing the unused segment.

Note

If a segment is unpublished, the system does not display a checkbox to the left of the **Segment Name** because no action can be taken on an unpublished segment.

You can only unpublish segments from the Segments page in Campaign Factory. You must republish segments in the Campaign Studio instance the segment belongs to.

Segment filters
---------------

You can filter unused segments by:

* **Per page**: To view 25, 50 or 100 unused segments on the page.

* **Account**: To view unused segments in a specific account.

* **Instance**: To view unused segments in a specific instance.

* **Status**: To view only published or only unpublished segments.

    Note

    Leave any of these options unspecified (hyphen displayed) to see all unused segments in the category.

Unpublishing segments

To unpublish unused segments:

1. Log in to Campaign Factory.

2. Select the checkbox for each unused segment that you want to unpublish.

If the operation is successful:

* The system displays a green notification bar confirming that the unpublish action was successful.

* The system displays another notification bar with the following details:

    * The name of the segment

    * The name of the instance in which the segment was unpublished

* The **Status** column for the segment or segments updates to **Unpublished**.

* The segment is marked as unpublished in the associated Campaign Studio instance.

Republishing segments
---------------------

Unpublished segments must be republished in their associated Campaign Studio instances.

1. Identify the segment you want to republish.

2. In the **Actions** column, click the icon for the specific segment.

    The system opens a new window and redirects you to the Segment Details page of the associated Campaign Studio instance containing the unused segment.

3. Click **Edit** to access the Edit Segment page.

4. On the left panel, locate the **Publish** option and select **Yes**.
