The Randomize feature in Campaign Studio enables marketers to manually A/B test content and marketing strategies by randomly selecting contacts within a specified segment. For example, sending a special offer to only a specified number of randomly selected contacts within a segment.

To get this feature enabled, [contact Acquia Support](/service-offerings/support "Support").

Using the Randomize feature
---------------------------

After the feature is enabled in your instance, do the following:

1. Log in to your Campaign Studio instance.
2. Select a segment or create a [segment](/campaign-studio/contact-management/segments) from which you want to select a random group of contacts.

Use this feature only with dynamic segments with filters. Contacts added manually to the segment cannot be removed by the **Set Segment Limit** number of contacts that you specify.

3. Clone the segment to keep the parent segment intact and use the duplicate for randomization.

The system displays the New Segment page for the cloned child segment.

4. Rename the child segment that you will use for randomization.
5. Click **Save**.

The system displays the Edit Segment page for the child segment.

6. Click **Randomize** in the top right corner.

The system displays the Randomize and Save dialog box:

7. In the ****Set Segment Limit**** field, enter the number of contacts that you want in the randomized segment.
8. Click **Randomize**.

The system adds the specified number of randomly selected contacts to the segment.

To disable randomizing and return the segment to its full capacity, enter `0` and then click **Randomize**.

On the Contact Segments list page, the system displays the `**Randomized with limit of X**` icon next to the segment name.

Note

Campaign Studio does not rebuild randomized segments daily like dynamic segments. The members of the randomized segments remain static unless you update the segment filters.
