Reducing Heatmap traffic to prevent exceeding limits

To prevent exceeding traffic limits, you must reduce the Heatmap traffic percentage. A lower percentage tracks a smaller portion of the total visitor sessions for Heatmaps.

For example, if a page has 1,000 visitors in a day and the traffic percentage is 20%, Heatmaps tracks 200 of those visitor sessions. If the traffic percentage decreases to 10%, Heatmaps tracks 100 sessions.

### Update the traffic percentage

To update the traffic percentage, an Acquia Customer Success Manager (CSM) must update the value from the back end. The Heatmaps tracking mechanism applies the new value to your pages. Contact Web Governance [support](mailto:webgovsupport@acquia.com). to initiate this update.

### Implications

If you track a low percentage of traffic, the returned data sample can be small, which can skew the metrics.
