Introduction
------------

There are several ways to locate and repair misspellings and potentially misspelled words. This article provides instructions on each of the methods.

Note

The scan disregards any `<meta>` elements when it does the spellcheck. The meta description must be checked manually.

How to mark a misspelling as fixed with Content Quality
-------------------------------------------------------

1. Log in to your Web Governance account.
2. Select the domain that you want to work with.
3. Expand the left menu bar if the options are not visible.
4. Click **Content Quality**.
5. Click **Misspellings**.
6. Select **Misspellings**.
7. Click **Action** on the same row as the misspelling.
8. Select **Mark as fixed** and click **Ok** on the confirmation prompt.

### When to mark a misspelling as fixed

Use this option to signal to your colleagues that the issue has been resolved. Use this option:

* If you want for the word to be included in subsequent scans. If the error returns, it will appear again in the misspellings list after the next scan.
* If the misspelling is actually fixed by the web team on the HTML code of the webpage.
* If the error is confirmed to be a temporary known issue, for example, in an unpublished state.

Issues that you mark as Fixed are still included in future scans and can be flagged again if the error persists.

How to mark a misspelling as ignored
------------------------------------

1. Log in to your Web Governance account.
2. Select the domain that you want to work with.
3. Expand the left menu bar if the options are not visible.
4. Click **Content Quality**.
5. Click **Misspellings**.
6. Select **Misspellings** or **Potential Misspellings**.
7. Click **Action** on the same row as the misspelled word.
8. Select **Ignore misspelling**. This instructs the scan to ignore this misspelled word in future scans.

### When to mark a misspelling as ignored

Use this option:

* For words such as proper nouns that are marked as misspellings when they are not.
* If you need to ignore spelling issues on a single-page basis.

Note

Ignored issues are not acknowledged by future scans. This permanently affects the compliance score, and can damage the score if the word is an actual misspelling.
