Notes

1. If you change the accessibility level, the existing Accessibility Score scan information is erased and the new standard starts over from the beginning with the next scan. _**All of the history is lost.**_ It is advised to activate a new level only when you are ready to make the updates needed, or if it becomes a legal requirement for your location and organization.
If you enable the option to _**Exclude checks that require manual review**_, you might not see other potential accessibility violations on your website.
2. It is not recommended to require Level AAA conformance s a general policy for entire sites because it is not possible to satisfy all Level AAA Success Criteria for some content.
3. Level AA of WCAG 2.1 is the legal requirement to be considered accessible. WCAG 2.2 is newly released and will soon be the standard, taking over from WCAG 2.1.
4. When you switch to a different guideline, the compliance score can show a sudden change. A dashed line on the graph shows when the update was done and indicates the old value and the new value of the compliance score. This appears on the first scan after the guideline update.
5. The orange annotation appears on the compliance chart in the _Accessibility_ module and the _Accessibility_ section of the _History Center_.

![A vertical orange line in the chart timeline that indicates when the new accessibility checks came into affect.](https://acquia.widen.net/content/0c259332-919b-457c-9769-c73d8a646bc4/web/WebGov_Accessibility_OrangeLine.png?w=720&itok=n41t55fF)

For more information, visit [Visual indication when you change accessibility guidelines](/node/59016).

Accessibility guide
-------------------

The _Accessibility guide_ provides guidelines on WCAG 2.0 and some common 2.1 requirements.

To navigate to the accessibility guide and view all of the available articles, visit [Accessibility guide](/node/58376).

For instructions on how to access the Accessibility guide from within the platform interface and be directed to the article that is relevant to a specific error, visit [About the Accessibility guide](/node/58696).

On the same row as an error, from the **Check List** page, the **Page View**, or the **Accessibility Fast Track** page, click **Help Center** (graduation cap icon).

History Center
--------------

The History Center stores all accessibility issues and details from previous scans.

For more information,  visit [Accessibility history](/node/86066).

Accessibility compliance score
------------------------------

The compliance score for the accessibility checks is calculated by using 100 (a perfect score) minus the number of errors found. This is then divided by the total number of accessibility checks.

For example:
If the compliance for individual accessibility checks is calculated by the

**total number of pages minus pages with issues**

for the

**check total number of pages multiplied by 100**

It will make no difference if there are 10 or 10.000 issues, the system calculates the _number of pages that fail the check_ as opposed to the total number of pages.

Accessibility reports
---------------------

This section provides information about the different accessibility reports that are available.
