This document provides instructions on how to navigate and use Web Governance Inventory.

Inventory dashboard
-------------------

The Inventory dashboard contains the following sections, for a quick overview of the most relevant content:

*   Inventory history
*   Technical
*   Links
*   Content

1.  Select **Inventory** (books icon), on the page toolbar to open the _Inventory_ module.

### Inventory history

This section of the _Inventory Dashboard_ is a chart that displays the number of assets such as documents, links, email addresses, code snippets, and more on the website.

The chart displays the date and an overview of the total number of pages scanned, images scanned, and documents scanned over time.

### Technical

This section of the _Inventory Dashboard_ provides an overview of the technical website information. Visit the _Inventory menu_ section for more information:

### Links

This section of the _Inventory Dashboard_ provides an overview of links on the website.

Select a category to view more details about the following:

*   **Image links**: Select this option to view the _Images inventory_ page.
*   **Content links**: Select this option to view the _Links_ inventory page. This page contains a list of content containing links. See the number of links in following content:
    *   Pages
    *   Spreadsheets
    *   PDF files

Note

The Content Links count in the Inventory Module shows the number of links to PDF files. Not to be confused with PDF files that are internal and present on the site. For example, the inventory may state a higher number of PDF links when compared to the Accessibility module PDF file count.

*   Archive files
*   Text documents
*   Slides
*   Other files
*   **Spreadsheet links**: Select the number to view the _Spreadsheet Links Found_ pane.
*   **Word Links**: Select the number to view the _Text documents found_ pane.
*   **Slide Links:** Select the number to view the _Slide Links found_ pane.

### Content

This section of the _I_nventory Dashboard provides an overview of the number of HTML pages and documents, refer to the _Inventory menu_ section for detailed information.

Inventory menu
--------------

On the left side of the page, the _Inventory_ menu contains the following sections:

*   Summary
*   Content
*   Technical
*   Personal

### Summary

Select this menu item to return to the Inventory dashboard.

### Content

Select **Content** from the menu on the left. This selection displays the types of content on the page.

The menu expands with the following options:

*   HTML Pages
*   Documents
*   Images
*   Inline Images
*   Links

#### HTML Pages

Select **HTML Pages** from the _Content_ sub-menu on the left. This page provides a detailed view of HTML pages within the website. Find HTML assets per page or per site.

*   HTML Pages toolbar:

*   **Export**: Select this option to download the current page locally in CSV format.
*   **Filter**: Select this option to filter for:
    *   Labels
    *   Languages
    *   Contains
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
*   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page.

*   **Notifications**: The number of notifications on the page. Click to view and find links to the following notifications:
    *   Policies
    *   Broken Links
    *   Broken Images
    *   Misspellings
    *   Accessibility
    *   SEO
*   **Priority**: Low, Medium, or High priority is calculated by the number and severity of issues, page views, and links leading to the page.
*   **Views**: The number of page views.
*   **Open Page Details** (page icon): Select this option to open the page dashboard.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
    *   **Link**: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Type**: The type of asset.
    *   **Response Code**: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
        *   200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.
        *   304 means that the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if there are any changes, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it's OK to use the same cache entry.
*   **Redirect to Page** (magnifying glass icon): Select this option to open the webpage in the browser and view the page as a visitor sees it.

#### Documents

Select **Content > Documents** from the menu on the left. This page provides a detailed view of documents within the website. Find document assets per page or per site.

*   **Export**: Click **Export**. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
*   **Filter**: Click and select a resource to filter for:
    *   Labels
    *   Languages
    *   Contains.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
*   **Sort**: Select to sort the list by All, PDF Documents, or Other Documents.
*   **Title and URL**: Select this option to view the document dashboard:
    *   **Content**: This section shows the content on the page:
        *   **Images**: The number of images on the page.
        *   **Incoming Links**: The number of incoming links.
        *   **Outgoing Links**: The number of outgoing links.
        *   **PDF Documents**: The number of PDF documents.
        *   **Excel Documents**: The number of Excel documents.
        *   **Text Documents**: The number of text documents.

Note

PDF files do not appear in this section if they are included in a domain group and if their own URL does not match the rules of the domain group as specified during the setup of the group.  
PDF files are still visible in these places:

*   `Page details`
*   `Inventory > Content > Links`.

#### Images

Select **Content > Images** from the menu on the left.

This page provides a detailed view of images on pages within the website. Find image assets per page or per site.

*   **Export**: Select this option to download the current page locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known image file.
*   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page. Select the link to open the page details.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known image name.
    *   **Link**: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Type**: The type of asset.
    *   **Response Code**: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
        *   200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.
        *   304 means that the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if there are any changes, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

#### Inline images

Select **Content > Inline images** from the menu on the left.

This page provides a detailed view of inline images on pages within the website. Find inline image assets per page or per site.

*   **Export**: Click **Export**. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known inline image file.
*   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page. Select the link to open the page details.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known image name.
    *   **Link**: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Type**: The type of asset.
    *   **Response Code**: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
        *   200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.
        *   304 means that the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if there are any changes, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

#### Links

Select **Content >** **Links** from the menu on the left.

This page provides a detailed view of links on pages within the website. Find links per page or per site.

*   **Export**: Click **Export**. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known link.
*   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page. Click the link to open the page details.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known link.
    *   **Link**: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Type**: The type of asset.
    *   **Response Code**: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
        *   200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.
        *   304 means that the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if there are any changes, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

### Technical

Select **Technical** from the menu on the left.

The menu expands with the following options.

The landing page displays the technical details present on the page. Navigate to view more about these sections from the landing page or from the sub-menu under _Technical_ on the left:

*   **CSS**: The number of CSS snippets on the page.
*   **JavaScript**: The number of JavaScript snippets on the page.
*   **Frames**: The number of Frames on the page.
*   **IFrames**: The number of IFrames on the page.

#### Forms

Select **Technical > Forms** from the menu on the left.

The _Forms_ landing page opens. Sort between **Internal** and **External** from the list toolbar.

*   **Export**: Click **Export**. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for all known _Forms_.

The list displays the URL for the form and the number of pages that the form is on. Click to navigate to the URL or to the page list to locate the form.

#### Headlinks

Select **Technical > Headlinks** from the menu on the left.

Sort between **Internal** and **External** from the list toolbar.

*   **Export**: Click **Export**. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for all known `Headlinks`.

The list shows the URL for the pages with `headlinks` and the number of pages that they are found on. Select the URL to navigate to the page or select the page in the list to locate the `headlinks`.

#### IFrames

Select **Technical > IFrames** from the menu on the left.

The system opens the _IFrames_ landing page.

*   **Sort** for _Internal_ or _External_ iFrames assets.
*   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
*   **URL**: The URL of the pages with IFrames assets. Select the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
*   **Pages:** Select **Pages** (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The system opens the _Pages with this iFrame_ page:
    *   Select the link under the header to navigate to the issue and view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
    *   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Select the link to open the page details pane:
        *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
        *   **Link**: The link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
        *   **Type**: The type of asset.
        *   **Response Code**: For example:
            *   200 means from the cache.
            *   304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

#### Frames

Select **Technical > Frames** from the menu on the left.

*   **Sort** for _Internal_ or _External_ Frames assets.
*   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
*   **URL**: The URL of the pages with Frames assets. Select the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
*   **Pages:** Select **Pages** (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The system opens the _Pages with this iFrame_ page.
    *   Select the link under the header to navigate to the issue and view it as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
    *   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Select the link to open the page details pane:
        *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
        *   **Link**: The link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view it as a visitor sees it.
        *   **Type**: The type of asset.
        *   **Response Code**: For example:
            *   200 means from the cache.
            *   304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

#### CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)

Select **Technical > CSS** from the menu on the left.

The system opens the CSS landing page.

Sort between **Internal** and **External** from the list toolbar.

*   **Export**: Select **Export** to download the current page locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for all known _CSS_ items.
*   **URL**: The URL of the pages with CSS assets. Select the URL to view the CSS as a visitor sees it.
*   **Pages:** Select **Pages** (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The system opens the _Pages with this CSS_ page:
    *   Select the link under the header to navigate to the asset and view the page as a visitor sees it.
    *   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
    *   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the asset. Select the link to open the details pane:
        *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
        *   **Link**: The link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view more.
        *   **Type**: The type of asset.
        *   **Response Code**: This column displays the response code that is returned. For example:
            *   200 means from the cache.
            *   304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

#### JavaScript

Select **Technical > JavaScript** from the menu on the left.

The system opens the _JavaScript_ landing page. Sort for **Internal** or **External** from the list toolbar.

*   **Export**: Select **Export** to download the current page locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for all known instances of JavaScript.
*   **URL**: The URL of the pages with JavaScript assets. Select the link to view the element as a user sees it.
*   **Pages:** Select **Pages** (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The system opens the _Pages with this JS_ page:
    *   Select the link under the header to navigate to the asset and view it in detail.
*   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
*   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Select the link to open the page details pane:
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
    *   **Link**: The link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link for more details.
    *   **Type**: The type of asset.
    *   **Response Code**: This column displays the response code that is returned. For example:
        *   200 means from the cache.
        *   304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.

### Personal

The menu expands with the following options:

*   Email Addresses

#### Email addresses

Select **Personal > Email addresses** to open the _Email Addresses_ page.

*   **Export** the results locally in CSV format.
*   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
*   **Email**: The email address.
*   **Create as policy**: Select this option if you want to use the email address as a rule within a policy (for example, to locate an unwanted email address within the website). The system opens the policy creation page, with most of the configuration pre-selected. Complete the policy and **Save**.

*   **Documents**: Select this option to view documents that contain this email address.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
    *   **URL**: The URL of the email address documents. Select the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
*   **Page**: Select this option to view the pages that contain the email address. The system opens the _Page_ pane.
    *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
    *   **Title and URL**: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Select the link to open the page details pane:
        *   **Search**: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
        *   **Link**: The link to the resource that has the asset. Select the link to view it as a visitor sees it.
        *   **Type**: The type of asset.
        *   **Response Code**: For example:
            *   200 means from the cache.
            *   304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it's OK to use the same cache entry.
    *   **Views**: The number of page views.
    *   **Open page details** (the page icon).
