Introduction
------------

The Web Governance Remediation Companion improves conventional accessibility remediation and transforms the workflow into an engaging and efficient process.

The Remediation Companion uses AI to identify issues and generate solutions. A game mechanics approach provides a logical workflow.

How Remediation Companion works
-------------------------------

*   Uses accessibility violations detected by the Web Governance scan.
    *   Pulls in relevant details such as location, type, and severity.
*   Presents each issue in context.
    *   Displays the location of the issue on the page.
    *   Highlights the affected element, such as an image, link, heading, or form field.
    *   Provides a plain-language explanation of the problem and its impact.
*   Offers AI-powered solution options.
    *   Generates at least one suggested fix for each failed check.
*   Allows you to select the AI-generated solution or resolve the issue through another method.
    
*   Applies and reuses your selected responsibilities.
    *   Uses these choices to make future suggestions more consistent and efficient.

How to use the Remediation Companion
------------------------------------

1.  Install the Web Governance Browser Extension and configure it to your domain.

2.  Open Web Governance Accessibility and select **View in browser extension** on the row for the page or issue where you want to work.
    
    For more information, visit [Accessibility navigation](/node/96481).
    
    Alternatively, use your browser to navigate to the page where you want to work and open the browser extension on that page.
    
3.  In the browser extension, select **AI remediation** (the magic wand icon).
    
    The system displays a personalized welcome message and a list of responsibilities to choose from. The available responsibilities are:
    
    *   Content Authoring
    *   Visual Design
    *   User Experience (UX) design
    *   Front-End Development
4.  Select the responsibilities that you have in your organization and select **Save responsibilities**.
    
    The system closes the Welcome window and opens the Issues view. 
    
    The system displays the five issues with the highest priority for the selected responsibilities. The issues that are displayed are prioritized by severity, issue count, and time since detection.
    
    _Tip_: Select all responsibilities to view the five with the highest overall priority.
    
5.  Select an issue to expand it.
    
    The section reveals the following categories:
    
    *   **What's wrong?** Expand this field for detailed information about the failing check.
        *   Select HTML to open the HTML for the page. The system highlights the failing code snippet.
    *   **How to fix?** Expand this field for customized step-by-step instructions on how to fix the issue.
    *   **Issues**: Expand this field for the complete list of all failed checks on the page.
        *   Select **Highlight** to mark the issue in yellow on the page. Hidden elements are not shown.
        *   Select HTML to open the HTML view and review the code snippet.
6.  Expand each field for full explanations, instructions, examples, and the options to **Mark as ignored** or **Mark as resolved.**
    
    Note
    
    Ignored issues are excluded from the scan. Use this option only if you are sure that the check passes or if it is not possible to fix it.
