Installing the Acquia Connector

To install the Acquia Connector, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the latest stable version of the Acquia Connector.
    If you're using the Lightning, Acquia Drupal or Drupal Commons distributions of Drupal 7, the Acquia Connector is already included; you don't need to download it, and you can skip to the Enabling the Acquia Connector section on this page.
  2. Extract the acquia_connector/ directory into the [docroot]/sites/all/modules directory, where [docroot] is the location of your Drupal installation.

After you have confirmed that your Drupal distribution includes the Acquia Connector, you can enable the module for use.

Enabling the Acquia Connector

To enable the Acquia Connector, use the appropriate procedure based on your installed version of Drupal:

  • Drupal 8
    1. Go to the admin/modules page on your Drupal website. From the admin menu, select Manage > Extend.
    2. Find the Acquia connector module, enable it, and click Save configuration. If the module is already enabled, you can skip this step.
    3. Go to the Configuration page (admin/config) on your Drupal website, and click Acquia Connector settings.
    4. If the Configuration page doesn't already show that you are connected to an Acquia subscription, click Get connected, and enter your Acquia email address and password.
    5. Choose the subscription you want to connect, and click Submit.
  • Drupal 7
    1. Go to the Modules page (admin/modules) on your Drupal website.
    2. Under Acquia Connector, find the Acquia Agent and Acquia Site Profile Information modules, enable them, then scroll to the bottom and click Save configuration. If these modules are already enabled, you can skip this step.
    3. Go to the Configuration page (admin/config) on your Drupal website, and click Acquia Subscription settings.
    4. If the Configuration page doesn't already show that you are connected to an Acquia subscription, click Get connected, and enter your Acquia email address and password.
    5. Choose the subscription you want to connect, and click Submit.
    6. If you are using Acquia Connector 7.x-3.x, and your website is not hosted on Acquia Cloud, you must enter a name for your website under Site identification, and then click Save settings.

    Adding Acquia Search

    On Drupal 7, the Acquia Connector also includes the Acquia Search integration, a fully managed SaaS search offering that integrates seamlessly with Drupal applications. Built on the enterprise-grade Apache Solr search engine, Acquia Search is hosted on Acquia Cloud, providing a a fully redundant infrastructure that ensures search is a highly available feature of your website.   • Drupal 6
    1. Go to the Modules page on your Drupal website. From the admin menu, select Administer > Site building > Modules. Find the Acquia Agent and Acquia Site Profile Information modules, enable them, and click Save configuration. If these modules are already enabled, you can skip this step.
    2. Go to the Configuration page on your Drupal website at http://[site_URL]/admin/settings/acquia-agent, and click Acquia settings.
    3. If the Configuration page doesn't already show that you are connected to an Acquia subscription, click Get connected, and enter your Acquia email address and password.
    4. Choose the subscription you want to connect, and click Submit.

Your website is now connected to Acquia. You may need to run cron on your website before it appears in Acquia Insight. For more information, see When the Acquia Connector connects to Acquia. Click any of the items in the menu at the top of the Acquia Insight page, such as Insight, or learn how to enhance and extend your website with an Acquia subscription’s many tools and services.

Updating the Acquia Connector

To get the greatest benefit from your Acquia subscription, you should keep the Acquia Connector module up to date with the latest stable version.
