Acquia Network 1.71.1

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

The Acquia Network was updated on October 11. Acquia Insight now includes eight additional tests that check your website for these best practices:

Security

  • Report whether you have Views without access control. The displays defined by the Views module should have access checks defined to prevent unintentional information disclosure.
  • Report whether your site has sensitive temporary files that may be viewable in the browser.
  • Report whether your files directory is secured against arbitrary PHP scripts being executed.
  • Report whether the $base_url global variable is set in your site's settings.php file. Leaving this optional variable unset can leave your site vulnerable to some forms of spoofing or cache manipulation attacks.

Best practices

  • Report if your site needs updates to the database structure or values due to changes in Drupal core or modules.
  • Report if your site does not have a PHP memory limit configured. PHP includes a memory_limit directive intended to help prevent a single long-running request from consuming all available memory, which can cause all other requests to return errors.
  • Report whether your site has more than one node_access module installed. This can lead to inconsistent or unexpected node authorization results.
  • Report whether your site has the Field UI module enabled. This module can be helpful during development, but in a production website it reduces performance when enabled and can allow the essential content types required by your website to be modified.

Note that not all of these Insight tests are available for Acquia Cloud Free websites.

    • Recommend using the Password Policy module, which can enforce minimum password complexity rules for passwords created by your website's users.
    • Recommend using the Username Enumeration Prevention module, especially if your website's user names are email addresses.
  • Performance
    • Report whether your site is running cron tasks as part of page requests ("poor man's cron").
    • Report whether your site has the Performance Logging and Monitoring module enabled, which can significantly increase the load on a production site.
  • Best practices
    • Report whether your site has not run cron in the last day.
    • Recommend against the Bad Judgement module, which is a dependency for several joke modules.

Note that not all of these Insight tests are available for Acquia Cloud Free websites.

The new subscription selector drop-down list provides instant search filtering: just start typing to quickly find the site you want to work with. This will significantly speed up getting to the task and information that's relevant to you.

The All sites option in the site selector brings you back to the list of all your sites.

    Insight

  • The Git URL/SVN URL, which you need in order to access your version control repository, is available from a button at the top of every page in the Cloud user interface. From this button, you can manage your SSH keys and access your site's Drush aliases and Cloud API credentials.
