What are security maintenances and why are they important?

Acquia is committed to maintaining the security of our platform. As a part of this commitment, we are obligated to mitigate any security risks we are made aware of within a given timeframe dependent on the level of risk, as outlined here .

 

What are security risks and how do they occur?

A security risk is any vulnerability that could result in compromised data, decreased functionality, or noncompliance. As a part of our effort to keep Acquia products secure, reliable, and scalable, Acquia is regularly testing for or being made aware of vulnerabilities. When one is discovered, we immediately begin the remediation process. 

 

We have a big release planned during the communicated dates for this maintenance, what can we do?

Unfortunately, it is imperative to the security of your application and the rest of the Acquia platform that we resolve security vulnerabilities as soon as possible. This is why we cannot postpone or opt customers out of the maintenance process. You can contact your account manager if you have additional questions.

 

Why can’t Acquia schedule this maintenance further in advance? 

Security maintenance is often reactionary. This means that we begin and execute these maintenance activities in response to emerging potential threats in order to ensure that all Acquia products and services remain secure, reliable, and scalable. New threats are a frequent occurrence on the internet and as a result Acquia must move as quickly as possible to mitigate them taking into account different factors such as the severity of the vulnerability and other critical maintenance that could potentially be effected.. 

 

How often should I expect to receive security maintenance?

Security is of the utmost importance to Acquia, and therefore, we are regularly testing for potential vulnerabilities. Because of this, we are unable to predict when or how often security issues will occur. There may be several months between discoveries of security vulnerabilities, or there may be only weeks or days. Regardless, we are committed to mitigating these issues promptly to maintain the security of our platform.
