Creating an application on Cloud Platform

Cloud Platform Professional subscribers may create an application at any time. You must be an Owner or Administrator to create an application using the Cloud Platform user interface. Cloud Platform Professional subscribers can purchase an application with credit card.

For Cloud Platform Professional subscribers

For Cloud Platform Professional subscriptions created before October 2014, the Cloud Platform user interface displays an additional Add a new application to an existing eligible subscription option when creating an application. This feature creates an application on the existing infrastructure instead of provisioning new infrastructure.

Important

If you have a Cloud Platform Enterprise subscription, create a Support ticket to create an application. Cloud Platform Enterprise subscribers must not purchase an application with credit card as that creates an additional Professional subscription.

The number of applications you can create in your subscription depends on your subscription level. For more information, see Cloud Platform Pricing.

To create an application:

  1. Sign in to the Cloud Platform user interface.
  2. On the Applications page, click Add Application.

    The Add Application page opens.

By default, the system selects Purchase a new Cloud Platform Professional subscription.

  3. Enter the Application name for your new application.

The application name you choose will be your application’s UNIX username and code repository name. Application names must meet these requirements:

    • Consist of at least four, but no more than 21, characters
    • Consist only of lowercase, alphanumeric (a-z, 0–9) characters— special characters aren’t supported
    • The first character must be alphabetic (a-z) and can’t be numeric

For more information about your application name, see Sitename definition.

  4. Click Add.

Cloud Platform creates the application. Your new application’s environments initially contain a default welcome message. Use one of the following options to create a working Drupal application:

Don’t forget to set up SSH access so you can log in to your infrastructure using the command line.
