Learn D8 Free: Extending & Managing

If you, or a colleague, is wondering about why "community" is an important part of the Drupal experience, this course could be a good way to introduce the topic.

Because community is an underlying theme that runs through many of the 20+ segments that make up the course.

The section on Modules is a good example. Our instructor, Rod, explains the concept of "contributed modules," and illustrates how they work in practice using three specific modules: Book, Forums, and Telephone.

There's also a segment on how to evaluate modules. It's not a complicated process, but it is crucial because there are now more than 32,000 contributed modules to sort through.

This course also introduces "Layout" in Drupal, which includes themes, blocks, and menus.

User Management is covered in two segments.

Site Management is concerned primarily with updating Drupal core, modules and themes.

Finally, Rod pulls back the focus to consider the Drupal community, including Drupal.org and the Drupal Association.
