Chrome Distrust of Symantec Issued SSL Certificates
Issue¶
Users running Google Chrome version 70 or later will see an SSL error for any sites using Symantec SSL Certificates issued prior to June 1 2016.
This change comes after Google Chrome version 66 started issuing SSL warnings for users accessing sites using these certificates on March 1 2018.
Affected Applications¶
All websites using SSL certificates issued by Symantec and the following subsidiaries prior to June 1 2016:
-
Thawte
-
Verisign
-
Equifax
-
GeoTrust
-
RapidSSL
You can check whether your SSL certificate is impacted by this issue using Symantec’s SSL checker tool.
Resolution¶
SSL Certificates issued prior to this date by any of the above providers need to be replaced. We recommend that this is done as soon as possible to minimize any impact to users on your site.
We recommend reviewing Symantec’s published documentation on renewing or reissuing your SSL certificate.
To manage your SSL certificate on Acquia Cloud please see Managing SSL Certificates in the Acquia Help Centre.
