Downloading Database Backup causes NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID error
Issue¶
I receive a NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID error when attempting to download a database backup in the Acquia Cloud UI.
This has likely occurred as some browsers, such as Chrome in versions 87+, began blocking mixed content or content that encounters a certificate error. This may affect customers that have an SSL certificate deployed to an ELB using the Legacy SSL install option. The error is received when the Acquia Cloud UI attempts to communicate with the underlying infrastructure and this request does not find the default Acquia SSL certificate common name on the ELB based certificate.
Resolution¶
Database Backups can still be downloaded without error via the CLI and we have the following documentation available: https://docs.acquia.com/cloud-platform/manage/back-up/cli/
If you have an SSL certificate deployed to an ELB using the Legacy SSL option on your application, you may resolve this issue by instead using the non-Legacy (“Standard”) SSL installation method and requesting that the Legacy certificate/ELB be removed by contacting Acquia Support. For more information see: https://docs.acquia.com/cloud-platform/manage/ssl/cert
