These are the Acquia DAM (previously named, Widen Collective) release notes for full year of 2022.
January ¶
Portals: Update
On the Portals dashboard, quickly see whether portals are active or expired with new status badges.
Widen Connect: Update
To improve security, only users who are logged-in Widen Connect community members can access and view the Collective product roadmap. You can still find the link to the roadmap in the top navigation of Widen Connect after logging in.
Integrations
There is an updated version of the Silicon Adobe CC Connector. Version 1.4.2 includes CC 2022 compatible plugins and installers for both Mac and Windows. You can download it from the Adobe CC Connector tab in your account user settings.
Resolved issue
When you re-order asset categories using the API v2 List Categories endpoint, the changes will be reflected more quickly on the page. We reduced the delay in returning updated data due to caching from a maximum of five minutes to a maximum of one minute.
February ¶
Entries: Associate assets to products
In the past, assigning assets to a product in Entries was manual and time consuming. Now, you can set up a managed integration to automatically associate product images, videos, brochures, and other assets to attributes in Entries, based on events you define. Assets can be automatically associated to attributes as new products are created or updated in Entries, as new assets are uploaded to Assets, or as asset metadata values change.
Portals: Increased asset download limit
You can now download up to 1,000 assets at once from a portal. We increased the limit from 250 to 1,000 to make the download experience faster and easier.
Assets: Support for Figma files
Finding Figma files in the Collective just got easier. Figma files are now recognized as a file format, meaning when you search, you can filter for these assets even if “.fig” does not appear in the filename. Also, when you download a Figma asset, “.fig” will appear in the downloaded asset’s filename.
API: Increased rate limit
To improve performance of managed integrations, we increased the rate limit of calls per second to the API from 10 to 50. Uploads are included in the rate limit, and chunked uploads are limited to 40 concurrent uploads.
Accessibility: New toggle design
Toggles in the Collective now appear with on and off labels that can be read by a screen reader. These new toggles meet WCAG guidelines for Label in name and On input.
March¶
Entries: Automated product tasks
Streamline your product content creation by using Paths to automatically assign tasks in Entries. When a product with the right criteria is created, the path notifies assignees of a new task. View tasks and mark them complete in a panel on the product’s details page.
New integration: Egnyte
We now offer a new managed integration with the file-sharing software Egnyte. Content submitted to a designated folder in Egnyte will sync with the assets in the Collective. If you’re interested in this integration, contact your customer success manager.
New integration: GRIN
With the GRIN managed integration, use tags to send and sync creator content and metadata in GRIN to the Collective. If you’re interested in this integration, contact your customer success manager.
Portals: Filename tooltips
When you hover over asset card filenames, you will now see a tooltip showing the full filename for the asset. This is helpful when filesnames are longer than 40 characters and do not fit on the card.
Accessibility: VPATs®
We completed three new Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for Entries product types, Paths, and Standard and Brand Portals. These templates document our product’s conformance with accessibility standards and guidelines. View the new and existing VPATs on Widen Connect.
Resolved issues
- An issue with reordering menu links in duplicated Brand Portals is resolved.
- An issue with downloading clipped video assets is resolved.
April¶
Assets: Uploader enhancement
We started rolling out the updated asset uploader! All customers will have the update by the end of June 2022. In the latest version, editing categories and metadata is easier than ever – and you can do it before uploading files.
Assets: WebP file type
WebP is now available as a download option in the Collective.
Insights: Performance updates
We improved Insights app performance by:
- Removing Insights data that’s more than three years old.
- Removing download counts from the asset orders export in the Admin app. You can still track download counts in the Insights app and Quick Insights.
- Simplifying the Downloads history page in the Assets app.
Entries: Add to products after upload
If you have the Entries app, you can now add assets to products after upload by selecting Add to on Review and Edit.
Resolved issue
We fixed an issue with templates not previewing correctly in the Assets app.
May¶
Assets: Upload category search
Customers who have the enhanced asset uploader can now search for parent and subcategories when selecting categories. All customers will have the updated uploader in June 2022.
Integration: SAML SSO encryption
We now support encrypted SAML responses for additional security. Reach out to the Customer Support team if you would like to set this up for your site.
Integration: Widen to Widen
With this new integration, you can sync assets and metadata between multiple Widen DAM systems.
Entries: Usability improvements
We made several updates to the Entries app including:
- Product types are now text values instead of styled badges.
- You can now open and close the Product tasks drawer by selecting the Tasks button on product details pages.
- Filtering products and selecting columns for channels is now easier. All other actions on the Channels page – including creating an FTP export and deleting the channel – are under Actions.
Resolved issues
We resolved an issue with reordering categories in the Admin app.
June¶
Assets: Full release of the enhanced asset uploader
The updated asset uploader is now available to all customers. It streamlines the upload process by allowing users to edit categories and metadata before uploading files.
Assets: New Acquia DAM module
We released a new Acquia DAM module that syncs assets stored in the Collective with Drupal’s Media Library, so users can search, browse, and select these assets without leaving the Drupal site builder interface. The first release of the module supports PDF and video assets, and future versions will support images and spinsets.
Assets: FTP server upgrade
We upgraded our FTP server to only support FTP asset uploads made over a secure SFTP or FTPS connection.
Widen Connect: Support update
All communication channels with the Widen Customer Support team are available and open for active customers and users. As our customers have grown, so have non-active user requests for support. To help the support team prioritize cases and allocate services, customers now must log in to Widen Connect to submit cases, access live chat on that site, and view and update contact information.
Integration: FADEL
We now offer a managed integration with FADEL, a digital rights management solution. With this integration, users no longer need to manually register Collective assets in FADEL. Registration automatically happens when an asset is created in the Collective.
Portals: Rich text editor improvements
We updated the rich text editor (RTE) in Portals to be more user friendly and accessible. You can now edit immediately after adding the RTE and delete the RTE by simply selecting the trash icon.
Mobile: Resolved issues
- We fixed an issue with not being able to include the & character in a search to refine results.
- We resolved two issues with new and recently viewed assets. Now, when you upload a new asset, it will be the first one displayed in New Assets, and when you view an asset, it will be the first one displayed in Recently Viewed.
- Collections that appear on the Asset Details page now also appear in the Collections list.
- We fixed an issue with previously removed collections appearing in the Collections list.
July¶
Entries public API
In Entries, we added "date_created" fields to the product responses in our public API. This enhancement makes it easier to sync content for new products with other applications, which will eliminate certain tasks, such as downloading and sending CSV files.
New V2 API OAuth resources and refresh tokens
You now have access to refresh tokens along with full OAuth flow support for version 2.0 of the Widen API. We’ve also redesigned the OAuth allow access page and token formats. Get full details on the Widen developer blog.
New Wistia integration
Automatically sync video assets and metadata added to the Collective into your Wistia account using our new integration with Wistia.
Transferable comments in Workflow
In the Workflow enhanced proofer, you can now transfer comments from one version to another. You might do this, for example, to migrate requested changes from a previous iteration to the latest version. Learn more about the change in Zilflow’s release notes.
Bug fixes
- The broken links when editing EULA pages have been fixed.
- An issue with loading thumbnails on the Pending Delete page is resolved.
- An issue with InDesign ZIP files and WMV files not loading in Quick View and on Asset Details pages is resolved.

- The delay in child categories appearing in upload profiles has been resolved.
August¶
App navigation enhancements
The Collective app picker, search bar, and mobile experience are easier to use and more accessible due to several design enhancements. The app picker now features gray icons, which are more readable for all users.
For all navigation items, hover and focus states have been improved, providing a better experience for keyboard and mouse users. Also, user avatars have been moved all the way to the right.
The mobile navigation bar has been redesigned, prioritizing the search bar and collapsing all other navigation options into one menu.
New certification for DAM admins
Admins can validate and promote their DAM skills by becoming an Acquia-Certified DAM Administrator. To get certified, admins must pass an exam that assesses knowledge of DAM governance and maintenance, configuration, app usage, and more. Learn more about the study guide and exam.
Insights performance enhancements
Insights app performance has been improved through partnership with Bonsai, a trusted technology and engineering firm.
Engagement notification
We developed a better way to identify Collective sites that have low usage. Now, admins of these DAMs will receive a DAM Help Guide on their dashboard that notifies them of low usage and provides our best resources to improve their DAM and boost user engagement.
New way to create product tasks
Admins can now manually create and delete tasks on the Product Details page in the Entries app.
Acquia DAM module updates
The latest version of the Acquia DAM module for Drupal supports images and spinsets, as well as asset version management and metadata mapping from DAM to Drupal.
New VPATs for accessibility
We completed two Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for Entries and Portals creation. These templates document our product’s conformance with accessibility standards and guidelines. View the new and existing VPATs on Widen Connect.

New Insights default dashboard
To improve performance and decrease load time, the Insights app has a new default dashboard page. It features a list of all Insights dashboards available that users can then select and view.
Metadata field help text during upload
Admins can now add custom help text to metadata fields in the enhanced upload experience. The text will display as a floating tooltip if it’s longer than 45 characters or as a line below the field if it’s shorter than 45 characters.
Upload button in mobile menu
The upload button now appears in the global menu when users access the Collective from a mobile browser.
LDAP and OpenID single sign-on retirements
Due to security and stability concerns, Widen no longer offers the Google OpenID or LDAP SSO login features. Customers can choose SAML or simple one-way SSO.

October¶
New and improved Asset Digest
The Asset Digest page has an improved, user-friendly layout – with the asset and information side by side. More changes are coming soon. Learn about the future of the Asset Digest on our blog.
Collection cards removed from search results
You will no longer see collection cards in DAM search results. This update helps improve search performance so new uploads and batch edits to metadata display in the DAM faster. It’s also moving us closer to the new search experience in development. You can still find and browse collections from the DAM dashboard menu.
Airtable integration
With the Airtable integration, new or updated assets in Airtable will automatically create new or versioned assets in DAM. To request the integration, contact your customer success manager.
New DAM brand colors
The Assets app has a refreshed color palette that is more consistent with Acquia’s branding – all while maintaining readability, usability, and accessibility. Color updates to other apps, including Portals, will come later.
Changes to Product Update Hub
The Product Update Hub reflects the new brand color palette, and its icon has changed from a flag to a beacon. You can find the Product Update Hub in the same spot – the lower-left corner of the DAM – and it will still contain updates and announcements.
Security update
For added security, X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN HTTP response headers have been added to several places in the DAM, like the forgot password message. This update will help protect you and other users against malicious activity while using the DAM.
Mobile app updates
The most recent version of the Collective mobile app contains general maintenance and updates to the backend code. To get the latest version, you may need to manually update the app.
Bug fixes
An issue with the color and readability of asset share links has been resolved.

Distribute product content with Channel Portals
With this new type of portal, you can quickly create digital product catalogs for dealers, distributors, and sales teams using product assets and attributes from the Entries app.
