Managing search indexes

Important

EOL notice! Acquia Search with Solr 3/4 will reach end-of-life on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. For more information, see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding End of Support for Acquia Search with SOLR 3/4.

Before using Acquia Search, you must create a Solr index for your Drupal application. Follow these steps to create and manage your indexes through the Acquia platform administration interface.

Note

These steps are only for Solr 7. For creation of Solr 3 and Solr 4 indexes, contact Acquia Support.

Create a Solr 7 index

  1. Navigate to the desired Acquia Cloud environment.

  2. Select the Search with Solr 7 option in the left navigation pane.

  3. Select Add Search Index.

  4. Select the database for which you want to create the index.

  5. Choose which default Solr configset to apply based on your version of Drupal, or apply a custom configset through the Configuration Set option.

    • Drupal 8 or 9: Select the (Latest) Drupal 8 / 9 - Search API Solr 4.2.0 - Solr 7 - [drupal-4.2.0-solr-7.x-0] configset
    • Drupal 7: Select the (Latest) Drupal 7 - Search API Solr 4.4 - Solr 7 - [drupal-4.4-solr-7.x] configset

    Note

These are the default Solr configsets meant for single-language sites and optimized for English. If support for other languages or Solr configurations is needed, apply a custom configset.

  6. Select Add to create the index.

It may take Acquia Search several minutes to create the index for you.

Delete a Solr 7 index

  1. Navigate to the desired environment.
  2. Select the Search with Solr 7 option in the left navigation pane.
  3. Find the index you want to delete and select the Delete index action.
  4. Confirm that you want to delete the index by entering CONFIRM where prompted.
  5. Select Delete to delete the index.
