Content workflows
Acquia Source provides workflows, states, and transitions. These workflow tools help you manage the lifecycle of content as it progresses through your editorial process.
The following table lists the concepts related to workflow tools:

| States | Distinct stages in the content lifecycle. For example, Draft, Review, and Published. |
| Transitions | The permissible movements between states. For example, move from Draft to Review. |
| Permissions | Controls which roles can perform specific transitions. |
Workflows provide essential structure to editorial processes to ensure that content goes through the appropriate review and approval steps before publication. For example, you may require that content always go through a Legal review stage before publication. You may also configure which roles are permitted to perform each transition.
