Twilio plugin setup

Campaign Studio users can leverage the Twilio platform to send text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages as additional ways to engage with their audiences.

Important

  • To use Twilio, you must buy its subscription.

  • Twilio supports sending multimedia messages only to US and Canada phone numbers.

  • To receive SMS communications, contacts must have a telephone number entered in the Phone or Mobile field on their contact record.

Integrating Campaign Studio with Twilio involves the following steps:

  2. Configuring Twilio application in Campaign Studio

Creating an account in Twilio

To use Campaign Studio with Twilio, you must have a Twilio account. If you do not have an account, create a new one.

To create a Twilio account:

  1. Log in to twilio.com.

    For more information, see Twilio documentation.

  2. Enter the required information to navigate to the Dashboard page.

  3. If you want a trial phone number, click Get a Trial Number.

    Such a phone number provides virtual presence on the telecommunications network. For more information, see Twilio blog.

  4. Copy the values for ACCOUNT SID and AUTH TOKEN.

Generating a Message Service SID

  1. Log in to your Twilio account.

  2. In the search bar, type Messaging Services and select it from the search results.

  3. Click Create Messaging Service.

  4. Enter your information in the required field and configure it.

    The system provides the Messaging Service SID for you to copy and use it in Campaign Studio Twilio plugin.

Configuring Twilio application in Campaign Studio

To configure the Twilio application in Campaign Studio:

  1. Sign in to your Campaign Studio account.

  2. Click the Settings icon on the top right corner and select Plugins.

  3. Click the Twilio plugin.

  4. In the Enabled/Auth section, set the Published option to Yes and paste the values for Account SID and Auth Token.

    You can get these values from the Dashboard page in Twilio.

  5. In the Features section, specify the following information:

    1. In Messaging Service SID, specify the Messaging Service SID that you want to use to send text messages to your customers.

    2. To enable or disable click tracking, set the Disable click tracking toggle option to No or Yes respectively.

    3. In Do not send text message more than, specify the maximum number of text and multimedia messages that you want to send to your customers on a day, and select the time parameter in each to either day, week, or month.

  6. Click Save & Close.
