Managing folders

Use the procedures on this page to manage the folders you use in Acquia DAM Classic.

Creating a folder

Admins and contributors with the create folder permission can create folders. If you’re unsure of your permissions, contact your Acquia DAM Classic administrator.

  1. Sign in to Acquia DAM Classic.

  2. Click Home to add a top-level (parent) folder or click a folder to add a nested (child) folder. Folders nested under a parent folder must have unique names.

  3. Click the add folder icon on the actions toolbar.

  4. Enter the folder name.

  5. Configure the folder settings, from the following options:

    • Watermark assets in this folder: When enabled, assets in the folder will display a watermark in Acquia DAM Classic. If assets already exist in the folder, you must recreate the thumbnail for them to display. For more information about recreating thumbnails, see Uploading or editing assets.

    • Receive notification of downloads: When enabled, the admin email notification address configured in the system preferences will receive a notification of asset downloads. You can also enable the setting at the global level in system preferences.

    • Enable download requests: When enabled and a group’s download permissions for the folder are set to Do not allow, users can request access to download assets. The setting can also be enabled at the global level in system preferences.

    • Send download requests to: The email address where download requests should be routed. Acquia recommends the recipient be an admin or contributor.

    • Apply Metadata Template: Click the list to apply a metadata template to the folder. For more information about metadata templates, see Managing assets’ metadata.

    • Apply settings to all nested folders: Select the checkbox to apply any edited options to nested (children) folders.

  6. Click Save.

Accessing your assets

After creating your folder, you can access the assets in the folder.

To do so:

  1. Select your folder. Additional folder level actions, such as creating sub folders, are also available.

  2. Select an image to view the menu on the right. This menus provides the following additional options:

    • Approval

    • Details

    • Keywords

    • EXIF

    • Related Assets

  3. Select the image.

    The system displays the following additional options:

    • Edit

    • Watch

    • Add/Remove from Lightbox

    • Share

    • Get Link

    • Versions

    • Embed

    • Additional Options

Renaming or editing a folder

Admins and contributors with edit folder access can edit folders. If you’re unsure of your permissions, contact your Acquia DAM Classic administrator.

  1. Sign in to Acquia DAM Classic, and then click the folder you want to edit.

  2. Click the edit icon in the actions toolbar or folder details panel, and then click Edit.

  3. Rename or edit the folder settings. For more information, see Creating a folder.

  4. Click Save.

Moving a folder

Admins and contributors with move permission can move folders. If you’re unsure of your permissions, contact your Acquia DAM Classic administrator.

  1. Sign in to Acquia DAM Classic, and then select one or more folders you want to move.

  2. Drag the folder to its new parent folder in the folder tree to the left of the page. Acquia DAM Classic will display one of the following icons for the folder:

    • Can move icon: Displayed if the folder can be moved into the folder

    • Can’t move icon: Displayed if the folder can’t be moved

After the move is complete, Acquia DAM Classic will display a message stating:

You successfully moved a folder.

If you don’t have the appropriate permissions to move the folder, the following error message displays:

Unable to move assets

Contact your Acquia DAM Classic administrator about your permission questions.

Deleting a folder

Admins and contributors with edit folder access can delete folders. If you’re unsure of your permissions, contact your Acquia DAM Classic administrator.

  1. Sign in to Acquia DAM Classic, and then select one or more folders you want to delete.

  2. Click the edit icon in the actions toolbar or folder details panel, and then click Delete.

  3. Click Delete to confirm.

Important

If you delete a folder containing nested folders, you will delete the nested folders.
