After Acquia provisions Edge Standard for your account, you receive a "Welcome Email" confirming the product availability. When you log in to the Edge console, you can review the list of the custom domains associated with your Acquia Cloud subscription in the Domains tab.
Follow these steps to complete the setup:
- Configure each domain on the CDN.
- Once all domains show a "Ready for DNS repointing" status, update your DNS using the provided record to route traffic through the Edge network.
This process ensures that your site traffic routes through the Acquia Edge network for enhanced performance and security. Once the repoint succeeds, the domain status appears as Configured.
Step 1: Configure domain within the Edge console
- After you receive the email notification, access the Edge console at
edge.acquia.com and log in with your Acquia ID. Go to the Domains page.
For the domains you want to protect, select the ellipsis (three dots) for "Actions" and then select Configure Edge.
This action creates the necessary tenancy for this domain on the Edge CDN. The domain's status indicates Connecting to Edge until the configuration completes.
5. Once the domain configuration completes, the status changes to Ready for DNS repointing.
Step 2: Update DNS records at your registrar
To point your domain to Edge, log in to your domain DNS provider and add the CNAME provided in the Domain page, above your list of domains.
Create a record that looks like this:
- Type: CNAME
- Name/Host: www
- Value/Points To: [the CNAME address provided in the Edge Console]
- Log in to your external DNS registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
- Identify the DNS management settings for the domain you selected.
- Replace any existing A, AAAA, or CNAME record for the www subdomain with the CNAME record provided.
Once the DNS changes propagate, traffic begins to route through the Edge network.
4. Access to the Domains page in the Edge console to confirm that the status for the domain indicates "Configured."
