Managing your content containers

Just having personalized content for your website visitors doesn't do you any good until you've identified locations in your website to display that content. There are two different methods in which Acquia Lift supports personalizations:

  • Use Acquia Lift Drupal to create personalizations for testing and targeting directly in Drupal
  • Use containers to display offers and recommendation campaigns to your website visitors

Containers include dynamically generated HTML and CSS, along with optional, custom JavaScript. Each time the Acquia Lift JavaScript code runs on a webpage, it inserts any relevant containers into the displayed webpage. Containers are compatible with both Drupal and non-Drupal websites.

Displaying available containers

To display the containers that are available for use with your campaigns, sign in to the Acquia Lift Web admin interface, and then click the Containers tab.

You can filter the displayed list of containers on the page by entering values in the Find containers field.

Adding a new container

To add a new container for use with your websites and campaigns, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to the Acquia Lift Web admin interface.
  2. Click the Containers tab.
  3. Click the Add new container link.
  4. Find the type of container that you want to create for your website and its content, and then click its link. For example, if you want to create a container that will slide up from the bottom of the webpage when activated, find the Fly-out From Bottom section and click its Image, text and link link.
  5. Enter values in the following fields to describe your new container:
    • Name - A descriptive name used to identify the container in Acquia Lift Web
    • Description - Additional information about the container and its usage
    • Div prefix ID - The base ID associated with the container when it is created by Acquia Lift Web and used in the HTML and CSS that is dynamically generated.
  6. Click Generate HTML & CSS.
  7. In the Page div ID field, enter the ID of an empty div element that you want to replace with the container's HTML content. For example, a Page div ID value of sports_flyout would replace the following div code element on your webpages:

    <div id="sports_flyout"></div>
  8. Review the settings in the following fields, which include values that are used by the container type that you are creating:
    • Data store list - The type of information that the container represents — either an Offer, a Recommendation, or a Profile.
    • Open direction list - How the container is displayed on the webpage (either embedded or appearing from a specified direction).
    • Scroll amount - The amount of the webpage the visitor has to scroll through to display the container (useful for fly-out containers).
    • Scroll to element - The HTML element or ID tag that the visitor that causes the container to display. For example, to cause a container to appear for webpage elements with the entry class, enter .entry in the field.
  9. Use the HTML, CSS, and Javascript tabs to review the code Acquia Lift Web creates for your container.

If you make any changes in these tabs, click Test at the bottom of the page to redisplay an example of the container in the Preview section.

  10. Click Save to save your new container.

After you have created your new container, you can use it with a campaign that you create in the Acquia Lift Web interface.
