Customer sites

If you have multiple websites using the Personalization service, you may want to separate your visitor events by website, rather than keeping all your websites’ data together. Separation can allow you to maintain a discrete list of events for each website, and also let you build separate visitor insights for keywords, content sections, content types, or other taxonomies for each website.

To organize your events by website, you must create a customer site in Personalization for each of your websites.

Creating a customer site

Use the following steps to create a customer site:

  1. Sign in to Personalization, and then click the Personalize tab.

  2. From the left menu, click the Sites link.

  3. Click the Add new Site.

  4. From the Customer Site Details page, enter values in the following fields for the new customer Site:

    • Name: The name of the website.

    • External ID or Site ID: An identifier you choose. Personalization can create events for the corresponding customer website you create in Personalization. When a visitor performs this action on a particular customer site, the External ID or Site ID is included with it. The Site ID must be machine readable, using letters, numbers, and underscores.

    • URL: The URL of the website, entered as a valid URL such as http:///www.example.com/ or https://www.example.com/.

      Important

Personalization 4 subscribers can’t use regular expressions to enter the URL of a website.

  5. Click Save.

  1. Sign in to Personalization, and then click the Personalize tab.

  3. Find the visitor profile you want to examine, and then click anywhere on its entry in the table.

  2. From the left menu, click the Sites link.
  3. In the table of customer sites, find the customer site you want to delete, and in the Actions column, click its Delete link.
