Overview

Headless configuration establishes a connection between Source CMS and Drupal Canvas. When headless configuration is enabled, Drupal Canvas functions as the presentation layer in a decoupled architecture, separating content management from content delivery.

Enabling headless configuration

To activate the Drupal Canvas headless configuration in Source CMS, complete the following steps:

1. Access your site.

2. In the left sidebar, click Configuration.
3. Select Headless Configuration.

4. On the Headless configuration page, toggle Enable headless to ON.

   After headless configuration is enabled, a Configure option becomes available.

5. Click Configure to open the Drupal Canvas headless configuration page, where the Drupal Canvas connection is set up.
6. Run the scaffold command locally to create a new frontend repo, or Run the command to install Drupal Canvas headless adapter to your existing frontend.

Get Started menu item

After you enable headless configuration, Get Started displays in the left navigation menu of Drupal Canvas as a setup prompt for new users.

Drupal Canvas hides the Get Started menu item after you add a frontend URL to Drupal Canvas headless configuration. The item does not display again after the initial setup is complete.
