In Multi-Experience Operations, you must delete a site if it is no longer required. Deletion of a site removes the site record from Acquia Cloud platform and permanently deletes all associated data. This data includes databases and files across all environments where the site was deployed.
Site deletion is a permanent action and cannot be undone. Before you delete a site, ensure that you have backed up any critical data.
To delete an existing site:
Locate the site you want to remove and click Actions > Delete site.
The system displays a confirmation dialog.
The system redirects you to the Active Sites tab. You can restore the site from the Pending Delete tab if necessary. After the system permanently deletes the site, the site is removed from the UI.
Data loss: Site deletion does not purge all instances. Active site instances block this action. To delete a site, you must first dissociate all associated site instances from their environments. The system prevents deletion and displays a warning if active instances exist. This process includes the permanent deletion of all databases and user-uploaded files associated with that site across Dev, Stage, Prod, and other environments.
Codebase preservation: Deletion of a site does not delete the underlying codebase or the environments. This action only removes the specific data of the site and the association with those environments.
Permissions: You must have the appropriate permissions in the Multi-Experience Operations entitlement to delete sites.
Provisioning limits: After a site is deleted, the site slot becomes available in the entitlement limit. You can create or duplicate a site with the same name as the deleted site.
