Before using Acquia Search, you must create a Solr index for your Drupal application. Follow these steps to create and manage your indexes through the Acquia platform administration interface.
Create a Solr index
Understanding configset names
When you create a Solr index, the Configuration Set dropdown displays a list of available configsets. Each configset name corresponds to a specific version of the Search API Solr module. You must select the configset that matches the version of the Search API Solr module installed on your Drupal application.
For example, a configset named search_api_solr_4.3.4 is designed to work with version 4.3.4 of the Search API Solr module. Selecting a configset that does not match your installed module version can cause index creation to fail.
Identifying the correct configset
Before you create a new index, verify which version of the Search API Solr module your site uses. Follow these steps:
Log in to your Drupal application as an administrator.
Navigate to Admin > Extend. Alternatively, use the path /admin/modules.
Locate Search API Solr in the module list and note the version number displayed.
Alternatively, run the following Drush command to retrieve the version:
drush pm:info search_api_solr
In the Acquia Cloud Platform interface, navigate to Search > Create Index.
In the Configuration Set dropdown, select the configset whose name matches your installed Search API Solr module version.
Complete the remaining index creation steps.
If no configset in the dropdown matches your exact module version, select the configset with the closest compatible version. Contact Acquia Support if you are unsure which configset to use.
Navigate to the desired Cloud Platform environment.
Select the Search option in the left navigation pane.
Select Add Search Index.
Select the database for which you want to create the index.
Based on your version of Drupal, select the default Solr configset that you want to apply, or apply a custom configset through the Configuration Set option.
Current Drupal version: Select the (Latest) Drupal 9 / 10 - Search API Solr 4.3.2 - Solr 8 - [drupal-4.3.2-solr-8.x-0] - v1.0
Drupal 7: Select the (Latest) Drupal 7 - Search API Solr 4.4 - Solr 7 - [drupal-4.4-solr-7.x] v1.0
Note
These are the default Solr configsets, which are meant for single-language sites and optimized for English. Both custom and provided Solr 7 configsets are compatible with Solr 8. If you need support for other languages or Solr configurations, apply a custom configset.
Note
You can use the Acquia-provided (Latest) Drupal 7 - Search API Solr 4.4 - Solr 7 - \[drupal-4.4-solr-7.x\] - v1.0 configset for Drupal 7 with both the Search API module and Apache Solr Search Integration module ecosystems.
5. Select Add to create the index.
It may take Acquia Search several minutes to create the index for you.
