Auditing Acquia DAM metadata fields and schema mappings
Administrators often need a comprehensive view of their DAM metadata architecture that includes field names, API keys, controlled vocabulary options, and assigned metadata types. The Acquia DAM Metadata Schema Auditor is a client-side utility designed to export and inspect your site's complete metadata taxonomy directly within your browser.
The Metadata Schema Auditor runs locally on your machine.
No external data transmission: The tool routes all network requests directly between your browser and your Acquia DAM instance API endpoints (api.widencollective.com).
Zero server storage: Your bearer token and metadata details are never sent to external servers or logged by third parties.
Session isolation: Refresh or close the browser window to clear your session data.
Before you run the Metadata Schema Auditor, obtain an API bearer token with permission to view metadata settings. If you need to create a token, follow the step-by-step instructions in Generate the API access token.
Open the Metadata Structure Report in Acquia DAM to access the tool. Download the Metadata Structure Report.html file to your computer, then double-click the file to open it in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
Locate the Bearer Token field.
Paste your Acquia DAM v2 API Token.
Select Generate Report.
The tool queries the v2/metadata/fields/viewable endpoint and sequentially builds controlled vocabulary lists for selection fields. The tool displays progress in real time in the status area.

Column name | Description |

Metadata Field Name | The user-facing display label of the field in your DAM. |
Metadata Field Key | The unique system/API key associated with the field. |
Metadata Field Values | Populated values for controlled lists (selection_list, checkboxes), or the field input type. Examples include Open text, Numeric, and Date. |
Metadata Types Contained In | Lists all DAM Metadata Types where this field is currently active. |
To analyze your schema in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or a data warehouse, select Download Schema CSV.
The resulting dam_metadata_taxonomy_report.csv file uses UTF-8 encoding to preserve special characters and formats multi-value cells using semicolons as delimiters for standard data parsing.
