How do I get started with Video Creator?

Video Creator is a paid add-on feature of Acquia DAM. Once you add it to your subscription, Acquia DAM Support will enable the app for your site.

Assigning permission

To get started, give DAM users permission to access the Video Creator app and edit videos. Video Creator subscriptions come with a minimum of 50 licenses, and you can pay for additional ones. Each license can be reassigned once per year and you can do that by contacting your Acquia rep.

When the app is enabled, the Video Creator permission is automatically added to all admin roles. You can choose to keep this setup, or manually add and remove the permission to and from specific roles.

To more easily track and manage the number of Video Creator users in DAM, we recommend that you create a Video Creator role and assign that role to the same number of users as you have licenses. To do this:

1. Go to the Admin app.

2. Click Roles under Permission Settings.

3. Click Create new role and follow the initial setup instructions.

4. On the Available Applications screen, click the pencil icon to customize the Video Creator permissions and make sure the “Use the Video Creator to create AI videos” permission is selected.

5. With the checkbox under General User Rights selected next to Video Creator, click Next.

6. Finish setting up this role by following the instructions in this article on creating roles.

To manually add or remove the Video Editor permission from roles, go to the Roles page and select a role to edit. Under the Application Permissions tab, click Edit. Click the pencil icon to customize the Video Creator permissions.

Accessing Video Creator

Once you have the Video Creator permission, you’ll be able to access the app from two places:

  • App picker on the DAM dashboard
  • Button in Asset Digest under the thumbnail for supported video, image and audio assets

The supported asset formats are:

  • Video: MP4, MKV, FLV, WMV, M4V, MPEG, AVI, WEBM, MOV, and 3GP.
  • Images: GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, SVG, WEBP, and HEIC.
  • Audio: FLAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, OGG, WMA, AIFF, and OPUS.

The first time you launch the Video Creator app, you must agree to the Acquia AI guidelines. Once you do, you’ll be a registered user of Video Creator.
