Acquia AI accesses external services through connectors. Slack is the connector available in this release. When enabled, Acquia AI sends Slack notifications when delegated tasks reach review status, which removes the requirement to wait in Acquia Source.
The integration functions as a one-way communication channel. Acquia AI sends notifications to Slack, but no data returns to Acquia AI. Reviews and approvals must occur in Acquia Source.
Prerequisites
Ensure that the setup meets the following requirements:
Accounts hold Acquia AI access.
Organizations maintain active Slack workspaces to connect.
Enable Slack integration
To turn on the Slack connector:
Open a chat conversation in Acquia AI.
Select the + icon.
Select Connectors.
Enable the Slack toggle.
Note
Connector settings apply to the whole organization rather than individual users. To disable the connector at any point, use the same screen.
In this release, any project member can enable or disable connectors. Administrator or team lead restrictions will arrive in a later release. For additional details, visit Governance and control management.
Slack receives review notifications only. Acquia AI does not send alerts regarding sites or environments, nor does it report unrelated errors.
Review notifications serve as the sole outbound messages from Acquia AI. Without active Slack connections, Acquia AI sends no notifications.
Architectural design limits
External users cannot direct the agent or approve work from Slack due to these design restrictions:
Visual review requirement: Approvers must inspect changes before approval. Approvals must occur where results reside so that approving parties review actual work rather than message summaries.
Access control preservation: Slack workspaces do not serve as access paths to the agent. Membership in Slack channels grants no permissions inside Acquia AI, so Slack connections cannot bypass agent access controls.
Disable Slack integration
To turn off the Slack connector, open the Connectors screen and disable the Slack toggle. Acquia AI stops outbound notifications immediately. Disabling connectors does not affect existing data in Acquia Source.
