For each domain you want to protect, select the ellipsis (Actions menu) and then select Configure Edge.
This action creates the necessary environment (tenancy) for the domain on the Edge CDN.
While configuration is in progress, the domain status shows Connecting to Edge. This process can take from a few minutes to a few hours. Repeat for all domains that you plan to route through Edge.
When configuration completes, the status changes to Ownership validation pending (or directly to Ready for DNS repointing if ownership is already validated).
Step 2: Validate domain ownership
When the status shows Ownership validation pending, complete the security handshake so Edge Standard can issue an SSL certificate for your domain.
In the Edge console, on the Domains page, open the DNS information panel for the domain to obtain your unique SSL CNAME.
Sign in to your DNS registrar account, such as GoDaddy or AWS Route 53.
Add the SSL CNAME record as a new CNAME entry in your DNS settings:
Host/Name: _acme-challenge.<your-domain>
Type: CNAME
Value/Points to: the SSL CNAME provided in the Edge console
Save the DNS changes.
The system periodically searches for the _acme-challenge CNAME record. After successful validation and certificate issuance, the domain status changes to Ready for DNS repointing.
Note
If the status does not progress from Ownership validation pending, verify the _acme-challenge CNAME record is correct, allow time for DNS propagation, and contact your Acquia Support team if needed.
Step 3: Update DNS records at your registrar
After the domain status shows Ready for DNS repointing, update your DNS so that live traffic flows through Edge Standard.
Sign in to your external DNS registrar.
Locate the DNS management settings for your domain.
Find any existing A, AAAA, or CNAME record for the subdomain you want to protect (for example, www).
Replace it with the CNAME record provided on the Domains page in the Edge console:
Type: CNAME
Name/Host: www
Value/Points to: the CNAME address provided in the Edge console
Save the DNS changes.
When DNS changes propagate, traffic starts to route through the Acquia Edge network. Return to the Domains page to confirm the domain status shows Configured.
Important
DNS changes can take time to propagate globally. During the switchover, you may experience temporary unavailability or certificate warnings until the new configuration is fully active. Edge may take up to 10 minutes to start serving the updated site after DNS propagation completes.
