To protect a site, a domain must progress through the following statuses:
Not configured: This domain does not have a tenancy created on Edge Standard. It is not yet ready to receive traffic.
Connecting to Edge: The Edge network is configuring the connection. This setup typically takes a few minutes.
Ownership validation pending: (Action Required) Acquia must ensure that you own the domain before a security certificate can be issued. You must add the SSL CNAME record to your DNS registrar account website.
Ready for DNS repointing: Validation is successful, and your SSL certificate is provisioned. The domain is ready for you to update your authoritative DNS record to the provided Acquia Edge CNAME.
Configured: The domain successfully serves traffic proxied over Acquia Edge Standard.
Configuring your domains
The provisioning process starts from the Domains page, where you select the available domains that you want to route through the Edge network.
Locate the domain in the table and select Configure Edge from the actions menu. The status changes to Connecting to Edge.
Validate domain ownership
After the status changes to Ownership validation pending, you must complete the security handshake:
Open the DNS Information panel to obtain your unique SSL CNAME.
Log in to your DNS registrar account website, for example, GoDaddy or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Route 53.
Add the SSL CNAME record as a new CNAME entry in your DNS settings with the hostname

The system searches for the record.
The status advances to Ready for DNS repointing.
Repoint production DNS
Copy the Traffic CNAME record from the DNS Information panel.
Update the authoritative DNS settings at your registrar to point your domain to this record. After traffic is confirmed, the status shows as Configured.
Summary of certificate provisioning
Acquia Edge Standard streamlines your security posture by providing Automatic SSL Provisioning for all configured domains. To ensure maximum security and operational efficiency, the platform does not support external, manually uploaded certificates (BYOC).
How it works:
Configure: You Configure Edge for your domains in the Edge Console.
Repoint: Update your CNAME record at your DNS registrar to route traffic through the Edge.
Secure: Acquia automatically provisions and manages the SSL certificate for that domain.
Note
Customers are still responsible for installing and maintaining a valid SSL certificate for their custom domains on the Cloud Platform origin, with customers installing the certificate through the Cloud Platform UI. The origin must present a trusted certificate for the requested domain during secure connections between the Edge and Cloud Platform.
Limitations
Apex domains: This offering does not currently support bare domains, such as, example.com without the www.
Propagation delays: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect globally, depending on your Time to Live (TTL) settings.
