Getting started
The Acquia-VWO Connect Drupal module integrates your site with Acquia Conversion Optimization powered by VWO. It replicates the functionality of the VWO module and provides additional Acquia-specific features.
VWO enables the creation of segments, and this module provides additional Drupal-specific configurations to allow you to capture content metadata with page views in Conversion Optimization.
This module currently supports field mappings for Content Section, Content Keywords, and Persona from common content type taxonomies on the site to create segments in Conversion Optimization Testing and Conversion Optimization Personalize.
Requirements
The following are the requirements for installing and configuring the Acquia-VWO Connect module:
Installing the module and configuring the content
- From Drupal.org, install the Acquia-VWO Connect module and its dependencies.
- On your Drupal site, click People > Permissions or access
http://[site_URL]/admin/people/permissions. - Configure user roles and permissions for VWO.
- Click Configuration > Acquia VWO Settings or access
http://[site_URL]/ /admin/config/system/acquia_vwo. - Configure the Acquia-VWO Connect module:
- In the VWO Account ID field, enter the account ID.
- Click Submit.
- Click the Extract Account ID tab to extract the account ID.
- On the Visibility tab, configure the visibility to show only on specific pages, roles, or content types.
On the Field Mapping tab, select the field that you want to use for each segment.
For each segment, you can reuse existing fields or create new vocabularies and term reference fields.
- Click Save configuration.
- To understand content types:
- Click Structure > Content Type > Manage Fields.
- Locate the field types with an entity reference to a taxonomy term.
- Click Taxonomy > List Terms to view details of the data populated.
- Determine whether the content is configured to capture additional taxonomy terms with data such as Category, Tags, and Persona.

Acquia VWO Content Governance
Acquia VWO Content Governance submodule enables you to export content from your Drupal website into VWO as custom widgets, which can be used in your VWO campaigns.
Configuring the Acquia VWO Content Governance submodule
To install the Acquia VWO Content Governance submodule:
- Install the Acquia-VWO Connect Drupal module.
- On your Drupal site, click Manage > Extend.
- On the List tab, select the Acquia VWO and Acquia VWO Content Governance checkboxes.
- Click Install.
- On the main menu at the top, click Configuration.
In the System section, click Acquia VWO Connect Settings.
The system displays the Acquia VWO Setup.
- On the Settings tab, enter your VWO Account ID in the VWO Account ID field.
- Click Save Configuration.
- On the main menu at the top, click the Content Governance tab.
Enter your VWO API key to authenticate the module with VWO.
If you do not know your VWO API key or need to generate the API token, do one of the following:
The system redirects you to the VWO Developer Dashboard. For more information about how to generate a VWO API token, visit How to Access VWO API?.
- Click Save Configuration.
Configuring Entities
- To enable Component Content entities for VWO Export for all users other than Site Studio users:
- On your Drupal site, click Manage > Structure.
- Click Content Types.
On the Content type page, locate the content type that you want to export.
For example, Article.
In the Operation column, click the dropdown arrow and click Edit to modify the content type settings.
The system displays the Edit Article content type page.
- On the left menu, click Acquia VWO Content Governance Settings.
- Select the Make article available as Acquia VWO custom widgets checkbox.
(Optional): Select the Export all article entities as VWO custom widgets checkbox if you prefer to always export all article entities in VWO.
If you do not select this checkbox, the system provides the Export to VWO as Custom Widget checkbox option when creating or editing an entity of the configured entity type.
- In Render View Mode, leave the default value or select the appropriate option.
- In Render Role, leave the default value or select the appropriate option.
Click Save.
The system exports your content to VWO and makes it accessible in My Library in VWO. For more information, visit Working with Library in VWO Editor.
