When you choose to show details for assets in search results, information from metadata fields can be displayed on asset thumbnails in both the legacy search and the new search experience. You do not need to open the Asset Details page to view additional details about an asset because relevant information is displayed directly on the thumbnail.
Information displayed on thumbnails can include:
File name
Licensing or rights information
Custom metadata fields configured by your admin
Thumbnail text is displayed in both the legacy search and the new search experience. Asset cards in the new search experience display the following elements:
Title: Shown as a clickable link at the top of the card
Custom metadata fields: Displayed beneath the title, based on your configured thumbnail text settings
Action buttons: Shown at the bottom of the card
The following table describes line limits for thumbnail text in each search experience.
Search experience | Limit |
|---|---|
Legacy search | No character or line limits. All configured thumbnail text is displayed. |
New search experience | 2 lines for the file name, followed by 1 line break, then metadata content. There is no hard limit on metadata lines; however, a maximum of 5 lines of metadata content is recommended. |
Thumbnail text configuration is managed by Acquia Support through the admin backend. The same configuration applies to both the legacy search and the new search experience. No additional setup is required.
If you already have thumbnail text configured, it appears automatically in the new search experience. To add or modify thumbnail text settings, contact your Acquia Support team.
