Product types define the attributes each product has, similar to how metadata types define the metadata fields in the Assets app. Unlike metadata types, however, products can have additional attributes that aren’t defined by the product type.
Product types can be imported for each product via CSV, and product types can be unassigned to products.
Product types display on the Product types page, which can be accessed from the More dropdown in Entries. The product type name and number of attributes are shown.

Add product types¶
When you need to add new product types, click Add product type and enter a name for the type.
Next, select any attributes that apply to the product type, then click Add. Multiple attributes can be selected at one time.
After they’re selected, attributes for the product type are displayed in a list under their attribute group.
If an attribute no longer applies to the product, click the trash can icon for the attribute on the product type page.
Edit product types¶
Need to update the name of a product type? Quickly edit it from the product type’s page. Also, add and remove attributes for product types as you need.
Delete product types¶
At some point, a product type may no longer be needed for a product. When that happens, simply delete the product type. Doing so does not delete any attributes or attribute groups; however, products in the type will not be assigned to any products.
