Managing metadata in extensive asset libraries is a time-consuming task. Acquia DAM’s AI Tags feature streamlines the metadata management process by using artificial intelligence to generate basic keywords. With this feature, users can prioritize important metadata details to improve efficiency and asset organization.
Streamline metadata management with AI Tags
AI tags automatically generate keyword lists to improve search and refinement capabilities. Admins can edit, remove, or add keywords in the Asset Digest. Asset Digest is a tool that uses Amazon Rekognition for precise keyword management and enhanced control and efficiency.
Supported file types
The AI Tags feature works with all image files in your DAM, including:
Standard image formats (such as JPG, PNG, TIFF)
Camera Raw formats
For best results, upload images in the highest resolution available, as this will provide the AI with the best quality image to analyze and generate relevant tags. For a complete list of supported file types in Acquia DAM, see What are the supported file types?.
Enabling the AI tags feature
With AI tags, administrators can efficiently enhance assets with metadata. Automated basic keyword generation helps in prioritization of complex metadata. An admin toggle in Asset Digest is used to control AI tags. By default, this toggle is disabled. To use AI features, administrators must manually enable the toggle.
Use the following steps to enable the AI Tags feature:
Log in to DAM.
Navigate to the Admin app.
Click Global settings > Features.
Go to Manage Assets.
Set the AI Tags toggle to ON.
AI adminstrative tag
Administrators now have advanced control over AI tag management to customize and refine automated tagging processes.
To access AI Tags Admin:
Navigate to the Admin app.
Under Global Settings, go to Permission Settings > Roles.
Edit permissions for Admin or any other role based on your organizational needs.
Click the App Permissions tab.
Customize the Collective app permission.
Select the Administrate metadata types checkbox.
7. Click Update.
Admins or users with the assigned role can access and manage the AI Tags functionality.
Confidence level control
Admins can control the minimum confidence level for AI tags from the management UI. The confidence level determines which tags are applied to assets during processing. Each possible tag has a score for confidence, and only tags above the setting level will be applied.
The values for minimum confidence can be whole numbers between 0 and 100. The default setting is 75. Depending on the composition and complexity of the scenes in the uploaded assets, this might be too low. If there are too many irrelevant tags, adjust the confidence level to 95.
Lower confidence numbers mean potentially more irrelevant tags will be applied
Higher confidence numbers mean more relevant but fewer tags will be applied
Changes only apply to assets processed after the setting is saved
AI Tag Management page
The AI Tag Management page contains two tabs:
1. Active: Administrators will find that active tags are automatically populated with tags applied to assets. These tags:
Cannot be manually added.
Can be deleted from the list. When deleted:
The tag is removed from all associated assets
Add this tag to the excluded list of tags. If the checkbox is selected, the tag is added to the excluded list.
2. Excluded: This list specifies tags that must not be applied. Tags can only be added to the Excluded list by deleting them from the Active list, and there is an option to restore excluded tags.
Important Considerations:
Tag deletions are permanent
Changes only affect assets processed after you click Save
When an excluded tag is restored, the tags:
Return to the Active tags list
Become available again for future asset tagging
Do not automatically reappear on previously tagged assets
Capabilities
Metadata enhancement: Additional information leads to better searchability. Assets include more baseline data to improve their ease of search.
Upload efficiency: Asset contributors and DAM site managers can upload assets and prioritize other metadata enhancements while AI processes basic keywords and accelerates the workflow.
Enhanced control over AI tags: The feature includes specific tag searches, individual tag removal from assets, keyword deletion from the tag database, and application of AI tag filters.
Backfilling AI Tags for existing assets
AI Tags processes image assets at the time of upload. If your DAM contains image assets that were uploaded before you enabled the AI Tags feature, you can use the backfill capability to process those existing assets in bulk.
The AI Tags backfill applies only to image file types. Other asset types are not affected.
Prerequisites
Before you run a backfill, complete the following:
Enable the AI Tags feature on the Features page in the admin app.
Review your upload profiles to confirm which profiles include AI Tags processing. For more information, see Configuring upload profiles for AI Tags.
Test the AI Tags feature on a small number of assets to determine your preferred confidence level before you process your entire library.
Configuring upload profiles for AI Tags
Before you run a backfill, review your upload profiles to ensure that AI Tags processing is enabled on the appropriate profiles. Assets associated with an upload profile that has AI Tags processing disabled are excluded from the backfill.
To configure an upload profile:
Navigate to the Admin app and select Upload Profiles.
Select the upload profile you want to update.
Locate the AI Tags processing option and select or clear the Add AI tags checkbox:
Select the checkbox to include assets uploaded with this profile in AI Tags processing.
Clear the checkbox to exclude assets uploaded with this profile from AI Tags processing.
Select Save.
Repeat these steps for each upload profile as needed. This ensures that only the intended assets are processed when you run a backfill.
Running a backfill
Navigate to the Admin app and select Features.
Locate the AI Tags section. When the feature is enabled, a Backfill AI Tags button appears below the feature description.
Select Backfill AI Tags.
Confirm the action in the dialog.
The backfill runs asynchronously and can take some time depending on the size of your library. When the process completes, the admin who initiated the backfill receives an email notification.
What the backfill processes
The backfill applies AI Tags to existing image assets based on the following conditions:
Only image file types are processed.
Only the current version of each asset is processed.
Assets that already have AI Tags are skipped.
Assets associated with an upload profile that has AI Tags processing disabled are skipped.
If the AI Tags feature is disabled while a backfill is in progress, the backfill job is automatically canceled.
After the backfill
After the backfill completes, previously unprocessed image assets display their generated AI Tags. You do not need to select Generate AI Tags on individual assets. New uploads continue to be processed automatically after upload.
AI Tags in Digest
Features
With the AI Tags feature, you can:
Include the AI Tags section in Asset Digest pages.
The AI Tags section is similar to the existing tags section.
View AI tags associated with an asset.
Get access to a search results page for similarly tagged assets by clicking AI tags.
Initiate AI tag generation for assets by clicking the Generate AI tags button after upload. This functionality is available only for users with Edit permissions.
Remove incorrect AI tags by clicking on the row with the AI tag and selecting the (X) button next to the tag you want to remove. This functionality is available only for users with Edit permissions.
Note
Users with basic permissions can only view the AI tags that have been added.
AI Tags search filter
AI Tags can be searched using the general Quick Search. For example, searching for Bicycle displays all assets tagged with Bicycle as an AI Tag.
Additionally, AI Tags have a dedicated advanced search filter similar to the current Tags filter. A new default search filter for AI Tags is also included in the updated Search Experience results page.
