A number of file types and formats are supported in the Acquia DAM (Widen). File formats for some assets listed below are supported, meaning they can be previewed automatically when they’re uploaded to the DAM, and the original file format can be changed to a different format when you download or share them. Supported files can be searched for by file type and file format and shared via share link or embed code.
In addition:
There are no size limits for previews or conversion formats.
Roles and permissions can be assigned to all conversion formats.
Watermarks can be added to any conversion format.
Camera raw files vary by model. A sample file may be needed to confirm accuracy.
If a file format is unsupported, it can’t be changed to another file format, and a preview won’t display. Unsupported file formats can, however, be uploaded to the DAM and downloaded in their native format, with alternate previews manually uploaded. Unsupported file formats do not have an X in the columns in the table below.
*Document text in these files can be searched when you're searching for assets in the DAM.
Note
Direct format conversion from HEIC to other file types is temporarily unavailable for HEIC assets (including iOS 18+ photos). You can still upload, store, preview, and download original HEIC files.
Videos
The list of video formats the DAM accepts and that can be changed to other formats is long and continually being expanded. It includes, but is not limited to, these formats:
360-degree video (.mp4), 3rd Generation Partnership Project (.3gp), Advanced Video Coding HD (.mts), Apple ProRes (.mp4), Audio Video Interleave (.avi), Avid DNxHD, Avid DNxHR, Avid Meridien, DivX, digital video (.dv), Flash video (.flv), HDV, h.264, IMX, MPEG (.mpg, .mpeg), MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (.mp4), Material Exchange Format (.mxf), Premier Project (.prprog), QuickTime video (.mov), WebEx (.arf), WebM (.webM), Windows Media Video (.wmv), video object (.vob), XDCAM, etc.
If a format is not listed, contact the DAM Customer Support team to confirm that it is supported.
Unsupported file types
You can upload unsupported file types to the DAM. However, general features such as preview, share options, and conversion formats may not be available for those files. To distribute an unsupported file type, consider uploading it as a .zip archive and sharing it using an Asset Download link. For more information, see How do I share assets?.
