How to use the Document View-PDF preset in Acquia DAM

This article provides guidance on how to use the Document View - PDF preset in Acquia DAM. This feature allows users to provide access to PDFs with editable forms, which enables form completion directly in the browser.

Enable and share editable PDF forms

  1. Log into your Acquia DAM.

  2. Locate the PDF Document:

  3. Select the PDF document and open the asset details page of the asset.

  4. Click Share.

Ensure the asset is in a released state and not expired, as only these assets can be shared.

  5. If the Intended use is enabled in your DAM system, select the option for the I am using this file for field from the drop-down.

  6. Read and select the checkbox that specifies the end-user license agreement.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Select the Embed link tab.

  9. From the dropdown, select Document View - PDF.

  10. When the preset is selected, the system will generate a link.

  11. Click Copy code.

  12. Share the copied code link with users who need to fill out the form. The PDF will open in their browser, allowing them to use the browser's form-filling capabilities.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure you are working with a PDF document, as the Document View - PDF preset is not available for other document types or image assets.
  • Some advanced PDF form features may not be fully compatible with all browsers. If users experience issues, suggest trying a different browser or updating to the latest version.
  • If users report issues with the form not being editable, verify that the correct preset was selected and that the document is indeed a PDF with editable fields

If the PDF remains non-editable after following all steps, Acquia currently does not offer any additional options for making the PDF editable.
